Update from Poland

On the 20th of Februari we introduced Patrick Ratyński, a Polish construction worker who lost his right arm in a terrible accident with a concrete mixer.
In the meantime Patrick had his surgery: the BADAL X implant is successfully placed and he is doing really well.
During the rehabilitation period he did daily exercises at home and had two or three consultations per week with a physiotherapist. Week after week he felt stronger and was even able to add extra exercises such as running, cycling, swimming and going to the gym. Recently he started a new challenge as goalkeeper of an AMP soccer team.

On the photo you see him wearing the Ellis load set. A device to train the stump for weight baring before installing the arm prosthesis. Patrick stated that his phantom pains stopped as soon as he started training with the Ellis load set. He will be wearing a cosmetic prosthesis soon, but hopes to get an electronic arm in the future.
Although he had a bad reaction to the pain medication, he is satisfied with the procedure. Cleaning the stoma turned out to be easy for him and he discovered that sauna visits contribute well to that.
The only thing he would have done differently, is taking one or two days more to recover from the operation in the Netherlands before traveling home to Poland.
