Protip : Listen to your body.
Graphic 3: Misaligned Postures
The major drawback is reduced flexibility , making body prone to injury. If you are not engaging the body correctly, transfering the weight the benefits get reduced.
Alignment matters to avoid strain and maximize benefits. Watch out for:

(1) Bending from lower back in hastauttanasana making lowerback prone to injury. (backwardbend).
(2) A hunched back during padhastasana causing lungs to collapse (forward bend).
(3) Hyperextension of knee causing knee pain in ashwasanchalanasana (equestrian asana)
(3) Misaligned body in phalakasana (plankpose) and astanganamaskar (eightlimbed posture) causing lowerbackpain.
(4) Improper shoulder and non elongated spine in Bhujangaasana causing lungs to collapse and more pressure on wrist.(cobra pose).
(5) Improper hip and spine alignment in Adhomukha engaing knee instead of hips causing leg pain.(downward dog).
Tip: Engage your core, straighten your spine, and visualize a straight line from head to heels in each pose.

Proper breathing is the key to connecting your mind and body during Surya Namaskar. A common mistake is holding our breath or mismatching it with movements. Follow this rule:

What is flexibilty?

Flexibility is the ability of a muscle or muscle group to lengthen passively through a range of motion. It refers specifically to the elasticity of muscles and tendons. Important for preventing muscle stiffness and injury, often a component of rehabilitation. Improved range of motion, maintain muscle elasticity, , and enhance overall performance and prevent injuries by relaxation techniques. Static stretching and flexibility routines post-run help in reducing muscle stiffness and preventing injuries.

What is mobility?

Mobility is the ability of a joint to move actively through a range of motion. It encompasses not just the joint’s range of motion but also the strength, control, and coordination of the muscles surrounding that joint. Essential for dynamic movements, athletic performance, and functional daily activities. Enhances functional range of motion, enhance muscle strength and control, and prevent injuries by addressing the specific needs of a runner’s body. Dynamic warm-ups and mobility drills before running are critical to prepare the body for the demands of running.
