HYE August 2025 Summer Schedule is Here! 🔥

Here’s our updated August schedule to keep you moving, toned in body, and clear in mind this August.

~ update: We've reposted to include Yogalates on Weds 6 Aug (morning) and Weds 20 Aug (evening).🔥
~ The summer schedule continues with a few small changes due to our teachers' holiday schedules.

Many of you have asked us to offer more depth of understanding on applying the tools of yoga. ~

Responding to this, our Yoga Therapist and Teacher Trainer Natasha is offering a series of mini workshops (75-mins) on 9, 23, 30 August at 11 am. 
🙏🏼Book this Mind & Movement series as a regular class. You will also move - so come prepared for practice!

Esther gives us a double dose of mindfulness in her Yin on Sun, 10 Aug. 17 August with is Asian style with Qigong. Yoga Nidra back on 3, 24 Aug with Adrian.

Here’s our updated July studio schedule to keep you moving, sweating, and stretching all summer long.

- We’ve made a few changes to class times and offerings this month to reflect the summer holidays and naturally smaller class sizes.
- Some classes and times have shifted or been paused — make sure to check the schedule before coming in!

Yoga deepens our awareness—and often, insights naturally arise. But insights alone aren’t enough. Without integration, we can’t fully step into the version of ourselves those insights are pointing us toward.

This month, we explore how to embody our insights through action. Integration is a process of self-leadership that brings us into alignment with our deepest longings and true nature.

Yoga is a powerful tool in this journey—supporting not just awareness, but also the integration of what we discover.

Gentler practices like Yin Yang, Yin, and Restorative offer space to process, illuminate, and take the next step.

And our Women’s Circles, which continue throughout June, provide a space to articulate, connect, and grow. (Men’s Circles will resume after summer.)

Which yoga class is best for me?

We offer a wide range of classes at our yoga school, from the more physical to the more subtle. Which class suits you and when depends on your personal history, experience in life, which includes health, body and mindset, and where you are right now. Now is the starting point.
 
If you follow these three principles, you are off to a good start.
1.      Create awareness.
2.      Focus on your breathing.
3.      Balance engagement with relaxation.
 
Essentially, the body is the gateway to the mind, and yoga involves practices to help clarify

🔥 Breath Awareness
Smooth, conscious breathing—especially the exhale—calms the mind and helps regulate how we respond to both inner and outer stress. In the heat, focus sharpens and the breath becomes our anchor, supporting core strength and mental clarity.

🔥 The Power of Heat
Heat softens muscles and connective tissue, allowing for safer, deeper movement. Circulation improves, aiding recovery and healing. Heat may also activate heat shock proteins, which boost cellular resilience and immunity.

🔥 Postural Benefits

ASANA FOCUS: HANDSTAND
Adho Mukha Vrksasana – “Downward-Facing Tree”

This energizing inversion builds strength in the shoulder girdle, arms, and core. It also supports the cardiovascular and nervous systems.

Alignment Tips:
Gaze: Forward and slightly down.
Hands: Press fingertips and the “V” between thumb and index into the floor. Lighten the center of the palm.
Arms: Internally rotate forearms, externally rotate upper arms. Push out from the back of your heart.
Chest/Shoulders: Soften shoulders into the girdle. Flatten shoulder blades onto the back. Soften front ribs and engage the side waist.
Pelvis: Engage the lower belly, keeping a controlled arch in the low back. Extend from pelvis through the heels.
Legs: Squeeze thighs together and subtly inwards.
Feet: Active—stretch through toes and heels, pushing out from the pelvis.



ASANA FOCUS: FOREARM BALANCE
Pincha Mayurasana – “Feather of the Peacock”
(Also known as Scorpion when feet touch the head)

This powerful inversion develops balance, strength, and control from your foundation up.

Alignment Tips:
Gaze: Down and slightly forward.
Hands: Flat with fingers spread. Palms press firmly into the ground.
Arms: Press through elbows and forearms. Shoulder blades flat on the back. Biceps and triceps spiral in dynamic balance.
Chest/Shoulders: Chest moves outward, front ribs draw toward pelvic bones. Shoulder blades stay wide and flat.
Trunk: Gentle arch in the low back balanced by strong abdominals and engaged side waist.
Pelvis: Glutes and deep hip flexors help stabilize.
Legs: Thighs squeeze as if hugging a block. Knees straight and active (just like in Handstand).



BREATHING IN BOTH POSES:
Inhale to lift. Exhale to stabilize.
Diaphragmatic (ribcage) breathing—allows lower belly engagement while maintaining core control.
