Zo belangrijk je lichaamsgevoel, het opmerken van je lichamelijke reacties. Het geeft je zoveel informatie...
"But first, you must notice. Listen to your body. Listen to your gut. Listen to your intuition."
WHAT YOUR BODY KNOWS (BEFORE YOUR MIND DOES)
Something I wish my parents had taught me…
Something I wish all parents could teach their children:
NOTICE.
Notice how others make you feel.
Notice how your body reacts in someone’s presence –
a tightening, a softening, a shrinking, or a relaxation?
Notice your reactions, positive or negative.
As a child, my stomach would knot in the presence of a certain man all our community trusted.
When I shared what I felt with them, they told me I was wrong.
Years later, it emerged that he had harmed many children in the worst possible way.
My body had known before my mind could.
This is why we must come back to our bodies.
Come back to …
NOTICING.
Notice if you open or close around someone.
If your voice grows strong, or diminishes.
If you feel seen, if you feel safe, if you feel more like yourself.
Or less like yourself.
Notice if you walk away feeling big or small, grounded or dissociated, empty and tired or full and energised.
Notice their response to your pain and your joy –
whether they try to fix, dismiss, diminish, or rush to conclusions –
or whether they stay, soft, heart-open, patient and listening.
Notice how they handle disagreement –
with shame, judgment, blame –
or with care, respect, and curiosity.
This isn’t about blaming anyone or judging them.
It’s about honouring YOUR experience,
and the wisdom of YOUR body.
Notice.
Because noticing brings essential information.
Notice.
You can then move closer, or walk away.
You can speak your truth, or hear theirs.
But first, you must notice.
Listen to your body. Listen to your gut. Listen to your intuition.
Of course, sometimes our reactions are only echoes of the past.
Sometimes we’re wrong about people, and we learn, and we soften into humility.
Sometimes trust takes time to build.
But sometimes –
sometimes we are damn right.
And that’s why it matters:
Notice.
Notice.
Notice.
