Op vrijdag 27 juni 2025 vindt in Berlijn de ATiO-conferentie (Advanced Therapies in Orthopaedics) plaats. Tijdens deze bijeenkomst neemt dr. Roel J.H. Custers, orthopedisch chirurg aan het UMC Utrecht, deel aan een paneldiscussie over de vraag of nieuwe behandelmethoden kraakbeenletsels overbodig maken.

De sessie wordt gemodereerd door Ronit Goldberg, die vanuit een industrieperspectief ingaat op de langetermijnresultaten en de obstakels bij het toepassen van innovatieve therapieën.

Onderdeel van de discussie zijn ook de nieuwste resultaten uit het klinisch onderzoek naar CartRevive®, het hydrogelimplantaat van Hy2Care dat is ontwikkeld om een optimale kraakbeenherstel te ondersteunen.

On Friday, 27 June 2025, during the Advanced Therapies in Orthopaedics Foundation (ATiO) Conference in Berlin, Roel JH Custers, MD, PhD, Orthopedic surgeon at the UMC Utrecht, will join a discussion on whether advances in treatment are making cartilage lesions obsolete.

The session will be led be moderator by Ronit Goldberg who will provide an industry perspective on long-term outcomes and adoption barriers.

Included in the discussion are new results from the clinical trial of Hy2Care’s CartRevive® hydrogel implant developed to support optimal cartilage recreation.

Gisteren presenteerde Leo Smit namens Hy2Care® de LSI Asia conferentie (Singapore) hoe de CartRevive® hydrogelimplantaat een vernieuwende weg inslaat in kraakbeenherstel.

De huidige behandelmethoden zijn vaak duur, moeilijk beschikbaar of technisch complex. Daardoor blijven veel patiënten nog altijd verstoken van een effectieve en langdurige oplossing.

Met CartRevive® introduceren we een nieuw type behandeling: een hydrogel-implantaat dat niet alleen effectief is voor de patiënt, maar ook gebruiksvriendelijk én kostenefficiënt (zowel voor de zorgsector als voor de maatschappij)

Vandaag verscheen er een artikel in Tubantia over Hy2Care® en onze innovatieve behandeling voor kraakbeenschade in de knie.

Afgelopen jaar is de eerste klinische proef in Nederland afgerond, waarbij 46 patiënten werden behandeld in vier deelnemende ziekenhuizen, waaronder het UMC Utrecht.

“De eerste resultaten zijn veelbelovend. Bij de eerste tien patiënten zagen we een verbetering van gemiddeld 24 punten op de KOOS-score – ruim 2,5 keer de klinisch relevante grens,” aldus Leo Smit, CEO Hy2Care

Als alles volgens plan verloopt, wordt de behandeling vanaf 2026 in de Europese Unie beschikbaar.

Er is hoop voor patiënten met een kraakbeenbeschadiging aan de knie. Een Twentse vinding die kraakbeenschade herstelt met een gel-implantaat, staat op het punt in Europa te worden toegelaten. Medtechbedrijf Hy2Care haalde onlangs 4,5 miljoen euro op om ook de stap naar de VS te zetten.

Hy2Care® heeft €4,5 miljoen aan nieuwe financiering opgehaald om de voorbereidingen voor de eerste klinische studie in de Verenigde Staten af te ronden. Deze stap volgt op de recente FDA IDE-goedkeuring voor het CartRevive® hydrogelimplantaat. Daarnaast wordt de investering ingezet om verdere stappen richting marktintroductie in Europa en andere strategische regio’s te ondersteunen.

De helft van het bedrag is afkomstig van het EIC Fund, toegekend in 2022 via de EIC Accelerator. Het overige deel is opgehaald bij bestaande aandeelhouders — onder leiding van Brightlands Venture Partners — en nieuwe investeerders zoals LIOF.

Hy2Care® has secured €4.5 million in new funding to complete preparations for its upcoming clinical trial in the United States, following recent FDA IDE approval for the CartRevive® hydrogel implant. The funding will also support the next steps toward commercial rollout in Europe and other key markets.

Half of the funding comes from the EIC Fund, awarded in 2022 through the EIC Accelerator. The remainder was raised from existing shareholders, led by Brightlands Venture Partners, and new investors including LIOF.

Gülfem Yağmurdur is onlangs gestart als stagiaire New Business Development bij Hy2Care®. Tegelijkertijd volgt ze haar master in International Marketing and Business Development aan de Grenoble Ecole de Management in Frankrijk. Zoals ze zelf zegt: “Een programma waarin strategie, innovatie en een internationale blik samenkomen – perfect passend bij mijn passie om te werken op het snijvlak van wetenschap en ondernemerschap.”

De komende maanden zal Gülfem zich richten op strategisch business development en marktonderzoek, met als doel Hy2Care® te ondersteunen bij groei in zowel bestaande als nieuwe markten. “Mijn doel is om waardevolle, toepasbare inzichten te leveren aan het team – en me te ontwikkelen tot een professional die de brug slaat tussen baanbrekende medische technologieën en praktische zorgoplossingen,” aldus Gülfem.

As she puts it, it’s “a program that blends strategy, innovation, and a global perspective — perfectly aligning with my passion for working at the intersection of science and business.”

In the coming months, Gülfem will focus on strategic business development and market research to support Hy2Care’s growth in both existing and new markets. “My goal is to deliver valuable, actionable insights to the team — and to grow into a professional who helps bridge the gap between cutting-edge medical technologies and real-world healthcare solutions,” says Gülfem.
