Meet Zsuzsanna, an 84-year-old polio survivor living in Nottingham, England🇬🇧

Born in Hungary, she was just eight years old when she contracted polio in a shelter after fleeing communist Hungary with her mother. What followed was a long journey of recovery, resilience, and advocacy that continues to inspire today.

Zsuzsanna has been a long-standing UTX user. Due to reduced quadriceps control, knee hyperextension, and valgus, she wears UTX SWING braces, which provide stability and help prevent excessive hyperextension, supporting her mobility and independence.

Something as simple as enjoying a cup of coffee can be challenging for someone with reduced arm control.

Behind assisting this small moment lies smart mechanics — the Wilmer Elbow Orthosis (WEO).

The WEO is a dynamic elbow orthosis that helps people with reduced or lost elbow muscle control regain arm movement.

Its spring-assisted hinge smoothly supports flexion, locking at 35° and 90° for stability during daily activities.

Maak kennis met Therese - ervaringsdeskundige, vrijwilliger bij .nl én één van de klanten van Ambroise die gebruikmaakt van de GENUX 2 knie-orthese in combinatie met een EVO enkel-voetorthese.

In 2021 kreeg Therese een herseninfarct die haar leven ingrijpend veranderde. Haar mobiliteit werd beperkt, dagelijkse handelingen kostten veel moeite, en ze moest opnieuw leren omgaan met haar lichaam, energie en grenzen.

Maar Therese gaf niet op. Met veel doorzettingsvermogen, steun uit haar omgeving én de juiste hulpmiddelen vond ze langzaam maar zeker haar weg naar herstel.

• haar persoonlijke revalidatieproces,

• de uitdagingen die ze onderweg tegenkwam,

• en hoe de orthesen van Ambroise haar helpen om weer zelfstandig te bewegen.

Ook deelt ze hoe betekenisvol het voor haar is om als vrijwilliger bij hersenletsel.nl anderen te ondersteunen. Onder andere door het organiseren van activiteiten in haar regio. Die steungroep is voor haarzelf van grote waarde geweest, en ze vindt het belangrijk om ook anderen dat gevoel van verbondenheid en begrip te kunnen bieden.

Each version tells a story. A story of someone looking for support. A story of testing, refining, and adapting. And a shared goal of making life a little easier for those who rely on it.

Over the years, we’ve worked with different materials, explored unique AFO integrations, and even experimented with electronic components. Some ideas made it into daily use, while others remained in the drafts. But each one taught us something valuable!
