If you are learning Mindfulness, it is very helpful if you practice being aware of what you are thinking and feeling. When thoughts become negative, you will have an opportunity to notice them or catch them, then pause, take a slow deep breath and choose a more positive thought. You will feel better. It is never fun when WE feel frustrated, upset, or angry.

Example - you are in a crowded elevator, someone keeps poking you in the back. You become irritated almost angry. You want to tell this person to stop/knock it off. As you leave the elevator, you turn and start to address this "back stabber." But surprise, you notice this person is blind and using a cane. He/she is trying to determine through touch who is around him and when he/she can safely move. Notice, did your perspective and feelings change? Maybe you feel sorry for him now? Keep in mind that we all make judgments without knowing the whole complete story. Notice & acknowledge your thoughts & feelings, There is nothing wrong with becoming upset or frustrated. You don't have to act upon your feelings and thoughts. But before you respond, Pause and choose an appropriate choice, respond in a compassionate way. We don't know what others are experiencing. Others don't know what you are really experiencing.
