Numerous studies highlight that multilingualism promotes cognitive flexibility, enhances linguistic skills, and supports socio-emotional development. The research consistently shows multilingualism as a positive influence on various aspects of child development, underscoring the value of supportive educational settings and family involvement. Drawing from this evidence and our own experiences, we at the Tsilal Foundation believe that, alongside the language of their country of residence, children should have the opportunity to learn their heritage language.

A year ago, we began volunteering to teach children of Eritrean origin in Groningen, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch these bright kids quickly learn to speak, read, and write Tigrinya.

De Tigrinya cursus voor kinderen met een Eritrese achtergrond is succesvol van start gegaan. De vrijwilligers van stichting Tsilal Foundation al kijken er naar uit om van deze leerreis een succes te maken, en deze kinderen beheersen hun moedertaal in zowel luisteren, spreken, lezen als schrijven.
