ISCOMS - International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences ISCOMS – International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences The 29th edition was a tremendous success. Yearly, around 1000 abstracts are sent to us.

The organising committee of ISCOMS is proud to announce that the 30th edition of ISCOMS will take place from the 5th of June until the 8th of June 2023 in Groningen, the Netherlands. From those, the best abstracts are selected. Subsequently, students, who wrote these abstracts, get to present their research at ISCOMS. This year we are trying the best we can to make the congress even better, especially for those of you who are interested in acquiring a platform to share your research and gain knowledge. This will incorporate intensive contact with leading researchers in all biomedical fields, which is unique to ISCOMS! We are really looking forward to the upcoming year and we would like to wish all (bio)medical students a warm welcome to ISCOMS 2023.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ISCOMS Abstract Submission Fee⚠️⚠️⚠️

This year, we have introduced an abstract submission fee. As we have received several questions, we would like to clarify how this works.

When submitting an abstract, a payment of €19.95 is required to secure participation in the abstract selection process. If your abstract is not selected, you may request a refund within one month after the selection results are announced. If your abstract is selected, the €19.95 will automatically be deducted from your congress registration fee.

In this way, you will always get your money back; either as a refund or as a discount on your registration. The abstract submission fee therefore functions as a pre-registration rather than an additional cost.

If you are experiencing significant financial difficulties, you may apply for a fee waiver. If granted, this will exempt you from making the payment.

We hope this clarifies the process and encourages you to submit your abstract to ISCOMS this year. Please note that the deadline is this Sunday, 11 January 2026: don’t forget to submit! #2026 🧡💙

✈️ Dreaming of attending ISCOMS but worried about travel expenses? 🌍 We’ve got you covered! Here’s how you can secure funding to make your journey possible:

💰 Explore the Grantfinder by or check out for an overview of travel grants and scholarships.

📚 Ask your academic advisor or department about travel funds, they’re often available for students attending academic events!

🌟 Look for national grants or foundations that align with your goals. Many support students traveling for academic purposes.

✨ And finally: the ISCOMS Travel Grant! Applications open on the 17th of February and close on the 1st of March. It’s competitive, so make sure to explore additional funding sources.

On the third and final day of the congress, the aim is to focus on global health and equality in healthcare. There remains a significant global disparity in access to healthcare. Whether it concerns abundant or limited resources, or the differences in healthcare and research between men and women, not everyone is still afforded the same opportunity for good health. We strive for a world where every patient, regardless of their background, gender, or place of birth, has equal access to high-quality care, prevention, and treatment.

🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️ The ISCOMS Organising Committee will run the ‘Nacht van Groningen’ to raise money for charity, which is the Princess Máxima Center this year! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

Their aim is to provide the best possible care for children with cancer and to improve their quality of life during treatment.

In February, we will participate in the ‘Nacht van Groningen’, running 10 km, 16 km, or even a half marathon!

Every contribution supports the vital work of the Princess Máxima Center. 💙🧡

Our Story

The ISCOMS organisation is proud to announce that the 27th edition of ISCOMS will take place from the 2nd - 5th of June 2020 in Groningen, the Netherlands. The 26th edition was a tremendous succes, with more than 700 students from 62 different countries visiting us from all around the world. Yearly, around 800 abstracts are send to us. From those, 376 got to present their research in the 26th edition of ISCOMS! This year we are working to make the congress even better for those of you interested in acquiring a platform to share your research and gain knowledge. This will incorporate intensive contact with leading researchers in all biomedical fields, which is unique to ISCOMS! We are really looking forward to the upcoming year and we would like to wish all you biomedical students a warm welcome to ISCOMS 2020.
