Blood clots are something many of our patients worry about when considering hormone treatment - but our research is helping change that.
In a study of 13,026 of our patients taking body-identical hormone treatment including testosterone, we found there was no increased risk of blood clots.
Only seven cases of clot were recorded - all of which occurred in individuals with other risk factors, such as surgery, long-haul travel or underlying conditions. The incident rate of clot found was consistent with those observed in the general population.
Much of the concern comes from older studies using synthetic hormones, which are very different to the body identical hormones commonly used today.
Due to the incredible work of the Newson Research team, funded by the clinic, we are proud to deliver essential research into underrepresented areas of women’s hormone health, helping to strengthen understanding and improve outcomes for women globally.
