World Restart a Heart Day is an annual event promoting awareness about the importance of CPR and early defibrillation in saving lives from cardiac arrest.

Starting CPR quickly can make the difference between life and death. By teaching people how to help effectively in emergencies, victims are much more likely to survive.

Did you hear about our automated external defibrillator (AED)?

Installed in our reception area, this CardiAid device is part of our ‘Little hearts, bright futures’ initiative to help us to ensure our children have the best chance of a bright future.

We hope that installing this lifesaving equipment provides extra reassurance for our parents that your little ones are in the best possible care, as well as serving the wider Newport and Barnstaple community. 💕

DELIVERY DAY 📦

Emma is on her way! Emma is leading the charge, taking over from Josh, and she's making her way to deliver these life-saving devices to not one, but two nurseries. Over the weekend, Josh successfully delivered four AEDs to Scotland, and now Emma is stepping in to continue the mission.

The CardiAid Defibrillators that are going into each nursery have additional child pads inside which are quick and easy to install. This innovative addition ensures that if the need ever arises for an AED, although we sincerely hope it won't, it can be used safely on individuals of all ages.

Exciting news!

You may have seen that Josh took the baton from Emma last week in our mission to put a defibrillator in each of our Nurseries. We are pleased to say that all of our Scottish nurseries have received their defibrillator! This special delivery is part of our Little Hearts, Bright Futures campaign, which was set in motion during the Midnight Moon Awards 2022. The goal was clear: to have a life-saving AED in every Banana Moon Nursery, and we love being able to see it come to fruition.

Overcoming the logistical challenge of transporting these defibrillators to Scotland was no small feat, but thanks to Loganair, all four AEDs were generously shipped to Aberdeen free of charge, supporting the Little Hearts Bright Futures campaign. This means a safer environment for our children, families, and local communities near our Scottish nurseries.

Do you have the right AED training when a person suddenly has a cardiac arrest?

It is advised for all users of CardiAid AED to be trained periodically with a CardiAid Trainer, to ensure that all users are able to act if a sudden cardiac arrest occurs.

Our CardiAid Trainer is designed considering special needs for AED training:

* It has the same appearance as CardiAid AED, aimed to make trainees familiar with the product.

* It can simulate all possible scenarios a user may face while using CardiAid AED; and the user can be trained about the actions to take in each situation.

* It is operated by the instructor with remote control. The instructor may set different scenarios instantly according to the need of each user and/or the subject of the training session.

* It can operate in more than 20 different languages.
