"Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed the transition from traditional enamel bonding to the current gold standard of monolithic restorations for heavily restored or compromised teeth. We are now seeing Lithium Disilicate and high-translucency Zirconia (such as the Kuraray Noritake range) achieve a level of biomimetic integration and aesthetic vitality that was previously unattainable, even in the anterior zone.

While the Panavia V5 system has long been my benchmark for colour stability and minimal film thickness, the integration of Katana Cleaner—a non-abrasive MDP-salt-based surfactant—has represented a true paradigm shift in surface management. By effectively decontaminating the bonding substrate from salivary proteins without compromising the surface energy, it ensures a pristine interface.

Evidence of this was clear during a recent removal of a bonded Lithium Disilicate crown: the adhesion-cohesion balance was so strong that every square millimetre had to be meticulously removed via high-speed burs. There was zero marginal leakage or bond failure.

In an era where we strive for maximum bond reliability, this product often flies under the radar. I urge my colleagues to evaluate the Panavia adhesive cements and to introduce Katana Cleaner into their workflow; it is a low-cost, high-impact necessity for the modern clinician.”
