LIMSC - Leiden International Bio Medical Student Conference

The Leiden International (Bio)Medical Student Conference will take place on the 15th- 19th of March

The Leiden International (Bio)Medical Student Conference (LIMSC) is one of the largest student conferences in the world, hosted by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and organized by (bio)medical students. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the 12th edition of LIMSC had to be postponed to March 2022. However, on the 12th and 13th of March 2021, the first online edition of LIMSC will

be held. It is completely free, so take a look through our feed to see if you find something you would not want to miss out on! Since its first edition in 1999, LIMSC has grown into an internationally acknowledged and well-respected event. For the 11th Edition of LIMSC in March 2019 we had 700 visiting students with over 70 nationalities! LIMSC provides talented medical and biomedical students worldwide with the opportunity to present their research to an international audience. The research presented will include a wide variety of (bio)medical topics, ranging from internal medicine and public health to molecular cell biology and ethics. These presentation sessions will be interspersed with guest lectures by prominent international speakers, interactive workshops, a range of social events and a Career & Internship Fair.

✨ Head Crew Sollicitaties LIMSC 2027 zijn OPEN! ✨

Wil jij bijdragen aan de organisatie van de Leiden International (Bio)Medical Student Conference 2027? Van 17 t/m 20 maart 2027 verwelkomen we studenten van over de hele wereld in Leiden, en jij kunt daar onderdeel van zijn!!!

Als HC ondersteun je het OC tijdens de organisatie én tijdens het congres zelf. Je leert ontzettend veel, bouwt een groot netwerk op en werkt samen met een enthousiaste groep studenten. Daarnaast is het vooral ook een hele gezellige en leuke ervaring die je niet snel vergeet! Voor de Head Crew zoeken we enthousiaste studenten voor de volgende functies:

Secretary – houdt overzicht over communicatie en planning
Treasurer – beheert de financiën van het congres
Scientific – organiseert het wetenschappelijke programma en contact met sprekers
Social – organiseert sociale activiteiten en events tijdens het congres
PR – verzorgt promotie en social media
Design – maakt alle visuals en branding van LIMSC
Logistics – regelt de logistieke aspecten van het congres en zorgt dat alles soepel verloopt

Wil jij actief zijn binnen de MFLS, nieuwe mensen leren kennen én bijdragen aan een internationaal congres?

And just like that, LIMSC 2025 comes to an end.

On the final day of the conference, we were honored to welcome Max Hodak, who shared his visionary insights into the future of neurotechnology and healthcare. 🧠

Participants continued to engage in hands-on workshops and attend oral and poster presentations. We concluded this unforgettable week with our Closing Ceremony, where we celebrated the achievements of our presenters and handed out well-deserved prizes. 🏆

Finally, we wrapped up LIMSC 2025 in style at the Closing Party—a night full of dancing, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime. 💃🕺

Highlights of Friday!✨

We had the honor of hosting two renowned guest speakers:
🔹 Prof. Dame Molly Stevens captivated us with her groundbreaking work in biomaterials and regenerative medicine.
🔹 Prof. Kypros Nicolaides delivered an inspiring lecture on fetal medicine, sharing decades of pioneering research.

Throughout the day, participants explored a wide range of workshops, sharpening clinical and research skills in a collaborative, international environment.

We also welcomed students and organizations to the Career & Internship Fair, where future opportunities and connections were forged across the medical and scientific fields.

The day ended on a high note with our Black Tie Dinner—a beautiful evening filled with conversation, celebration, and community.

Day 2 at LIMSC 2025 was packed with action! 🚀

We kicked things off with two fascinating guest lectures:
🔬 Prof. Dr. Michele Diana took us into the world of image-guided procedures
🧫 Prof. Dr. Andries van der Meer introduced us to the future of organs-on-chips!

The day continued with hands-on workshops—from VR and robotic surgery to surgical suturing and emergency medicine. 💡👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

To wrap it all up, we celebrated at the LIMSC Festival! 🇳🇱
Think Dutch games, a mini language crash course, and blind tastings.✨

LIMSC 2025 has officially started! 🎉

We kicked off Day 1 with a visit to Naturalis Biodiversity Museum. Later we dove into the future at our AI in Healthcare Symposium 🤖🧠, shared insights on how AI is revolutionizing clinical care, pharmaceutical research, medical education, and global health policy. To top off an inspiring day, we enjoyed a fun-filled pub crawl across four amazing local pubs, giving us the perfect chance to bond, laugh, and create unforgettable memories. 🍻✨
