Your monthly toolkit for a stronger, deeper and safer Ashtanga practice!
Practice, practice and all is coming… or is it? Ashtanga yoga is a challenging practice, with some pretty complex poses. Human beings may be designed to move, but putting your leg behind your head, or grabbing your feet in a super deep backbend is another story. Therefore, it makes only sense to understand what you actually need in order to be able to do a certain pose in a safe and enjoyable way, and to prepare your body for what you want to do with it. Whether it’s a fundamental pose like a downward facing dog or a forward fold, or a more complex arm balance or deep hip opener.
And so, starting March, we’re introducing a specialized monthly class, designed to support and deepen your practice. This isn’t your regular Mysore or led class – instead, we’ll focus on building the fundamental strength and mobility needed to make your practice more sustainable and enjoyable.
Drawing from our interdisciplinary approach to the practice, we’ve created a class that brings together the best of what we’ve learned. Our journey includes studying with and (who introduced Lara to FRC) and (expert in functional movement & embodied anatomy), regular strength training with at HPC Leiden, and tailored mobility work with .
Through targeted drills and exercises, you’ll learn how to:
🪷 Develop the strength needed for challenging asanas
🪷 Increase your range of motion safely and effectively
🪷 Improve your body awareness and movement control
🪷 Better understand the prerequisites for key postures
🪷 Reduce your risk of injury
🪷 Build movement skills that translate beyond your mat
🪷 Create a foundation for lifelong practice and overall longevity
Join us every first Saturday of the month at 10:45 to learn to move better and more freely, and unlock new possibilities in your practice!
