A very Happy Christmas from Altruist Founders Dr Andrew Birnie, Consultant Dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon, and David 🎄
It has been a truly remarkable 10th anniversary year, thanks to you ⬇️
In 2025 we were able to donate over £305,000 to help protect some of the most vulnerable skins in the world 🌍
➕ For the 1st time in 2025, Dr Birnie and David traveled together to Tanzania to see where our donations (and your support) does the most good - protecting people with albinism in Africa.
This was possible thanks to our charity partner who allowed us to experience first-hand their life enhancing work 🤍
👉 Without the volunteers at Standing Voice, and our other charity partners, we would not be able to get our sunscreen to those that need it most 🌍
DONATION UPDATE: Since 2015, we have now donated nearly £1.5 million GBP (€1.71 million) in 10 years to our charity partners. The 10p we donate with every Altruist sale makes a huge difference 🙏

Does having less moles = lower risk of melanoma? 🟤Watch + listen to this study published in 📄
Dr Andrew Birnie, a Consultant Dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon, explains this fascinating Australian study of twins published in the respected British Journal of Dermatology 🔬
It shows the impact of one twin taking sun protection measures, compared to the sibling - and how that effected the number of moles over a long period.
📍Please share for awareness ➡️ The number of moles, or nevi, is proven to be a direct risk factor for developing melanoma - it’s a stronger risk factor than family history or having had a melanoma in the past ⚠️

The ALTRUISTS
Altruist was created by Andrew and David; 2 friends who met in Africa. They met many years ago whilst working in Durban, South Africa and became good friends whilst sitting in the morning sun on surfboards in the Indian Ocean.
Dr Andrew Birnie is a Consultant Dermatologist based in Canterbury, Kent who specialises in skin cancer and Mohs micrographic surgery.
David Westerbeek Van Eerten is an economist who’s worked in skincare his whole life.
To reduce the incidence of skin cancer by enabling more people to use more sunscreen. Together with the help of the best scientists in Europe and BASF they created an exceptionally high quality sunscreen at the lowest possible price.
