SIGN THE PETITION: KEEP STUDENT SPORTS AFFORDABLE!
Accessible and affordable sports facilities are essential for the mental and physical health, personal development, and social connections of our students.
However, due to stricter enforcement of government regulations, educational institutions are no longer permitted to financially support student sports clubs and facilities such as UM SPORTS. This change could make participation in sports significantly more expensive, in some cities, costs may even increase by hundreds of euros per year! For many students, these increases are simply unaffordable. And all of this comes at a time when students' mental health has already been under pressure for years.
This is why we are calling on the Lower House to review this policy and ensure that student sports remain affordable.
Maastricht University’s Position:
UM SPORTS, MUSST, and the Executive Board of Maastricht University, in close collaboration with Stichting Studentensport Nederland and all other University Sports Centres across the Netherlands, are doing everything in their power to keep sports accessible and affordable for UM SPORTS members.
