Embracing change with grace: Viniyoga® and Pregnancy
Interview with Eva du Bois, Netherlands
Pregnancy. It’s often spoken about as something that happens to a woman. And yes, it’s her body that changes, stretches, and expands. But what we sometimes forget is that this journey is not meant to be walked alone. Whether it’s a partner, a friend, a doula, or simply a loving support system, sharing the pregnancy emotionally, mentally, spiritually is essential. Not just for reducing the load, but to prepare for what’s coming: the arrival of a new life.
Eva du Bois knows this truth deeply. A longtime yoga teacher and mother of two, Eva shifted from the intense rhythm of Ashtanga to the breath-centred gentleness of Viniyoga when she became pregnant. What she discovered wasn’t just a more suitable physical practice but an entire approach to life and motherhood that embraced softness, presence, and connection.
In our interview, Eva reflects on how pregnancy transformed her not just physically, but completely. And it didn’t end with her. Inspired by her own experiences, she began guiding other women and couples through this life-altering chapter using Viniyoga and tools like HypnoBirthing.
One of her key insights?
Pregnancy may happen in one body, but it touches two hearts … or more. Partners play a vital role, and Eva makes space for them too. After all, birth doesn’t just bring a baby into the world, it births a new kind of family. And for many, it can be overwhelming or even traumatic. But it doesn’t have to be. With preparation, compassion, and support, it can become a powerful, joyful, and unifying experience. Yoga offers a way in. It helps reconnect to breath when fear creeps in. It supports a changing body. It invites both parents to slow down, tune in, and make space for something as big as transformation.
