Mycorrhiza is the collective name of beneficial fungi that have a collaboration with the root system of plants. In exchange for plant sugars from the roots, they make minerals absorbable for plants, so that plants remain healthier and make better use of the nutrients.

The absorption capacity of the roots increases on average by up to 700% because of mycorrhiza!

The soil forms the basis for life on earth and our food production. Vegetables, fruit, milk and meat, but also textiles and wood originate in the soil.

It is therefore important that we maintain our soil well. That is quite a challenge, with a rising world population, salinization, overuse and climate change.

Our plant and soil expert Pius Floris is currently working overtime in India, where there is a lot of interest in a cultivation method that enriches the soil instead of damaging it. After all, the soil is the basis for a healthy plant and ultimately good food.

Pius travels from one field to another and also gives several lectures for regional agronomists and growers. Sharing knowledge is key when it comes to food supply.

De biodiversiteit in de bodem - het bodemleven - is een onmisbaar onderdeel voor een goed functionerende, gezonde bodem.

In de landbouw ploegen, spitten en bewerken we de bodem intensief, wat de biodiversiteit flink verstoord. Bovendien kan het bodemleven slecht tegen de bestrijdingsmiddelen die in de gangbare landbouw worden gebruikt.

Bij Den Ouden ontwikkelen we hoogwaardige oplossingen zoals organische meststoffen en compost, welke effectief bijdragen aan het behoud en herstel van biodiversiteit. Voldoende bodemleven draagt bij aan een gezonde bodem, welke weer zorgt voor gezonde gewassen!

Without healthy plants, we cannot grow enough nutritious food to feed our growing world population and prevent malnutrition.

Plants make up 80 percent of the food we eat, but they are under constant attack from pests and diseases, which destroy between 20 to 40 percent of food crops every year.

let's not just focus on fighting these diseases with pesticides, but focus on improving plant health, soil quality and plant resilience.

Healthy soil. Healthy plant. Happy people.

Today it's World Soil Day 2021, with its campaign "Halt soil salinization, boost soil productivity".

This day aims to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, fighting soil salinization, increasing soil awareness and encouraging societies to improve soil health.

Plant Health Cure wants to contribute with reducing salinization and improving overall soil quality.
