During the sound massage, a state of light to profound relaxation generally prevails. This leads to certain changes in our bodies:
- reduction of heart rate
- reduction of blood pressure
- decrease of consumption of oxygen and production of carbon dioxide
- norepinephrine (stress hormone) levels decline
- and many more! (we have a long list so if you’re interested, drop us a message)
The 1 on 1 sound massage we offer was developed in 1984 by Peter Hess, after his experiences in Nepal, India and Tibet and the introduction to Ayurveda. We use only professional therapeutic quality singing bowls, approved by Peter Hess institute. However, it is not a form of medicine or therapy, but procedure with the aim for deep relaxation. You will experience the sound massage by having up to 3 singing bowls placed on your body and vibrating in harmony with each other. You will not only hear, but also feel the vibration of singing bowls. Duration of the visit: 60-75min, with ±45min of actual sound massage in total (both front and back) and 15-30min for tea and conversation (depending on the number of visit and client’s pace). We ask you to wear comfortable clothing (no shirts with buttons or zippers) and restrain from food for at least 2 hours. After the experience, set aside some time (up to a few hours) to get back to the normal rhythm. The price of this sound massage is 80eu. For sound bath sessions we use a variety of hand made singing bowls together with other instruments, like Shakti chimes and drums. The sound bath sessions are offered in small groups and take up to 2h: 60-90mins of the sound bath and 30min for tea and reflection. For these sessions we kindly ask you to bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. During sound baths the instruments will not be placed on your body, therefore you will experience only the auditory aspect of the singing bowls. The price for sound bath session is 45eu per person. Sound is an acoustic signal or respectively a vibration of air that can be perceived with human ear. The frequency range that human ear can pick up is between 20Hz and 20.000Hz (one Hz corresponds to one cycle per second). The sound spreads in the air with a speed of 330m per second (having ideal weather conditions). Water conducts sound even better and faster than air - 1500 metres per second. Keeping in mind that the human body consists of 78-80% of liquids, it is easy imagining how well our bodies conduct the sound. This is why during a sound massage with singing bowl, the air AND the body are used as medium for sound. The sound of the singing bowl consists of the base tone - the most prominent tone as well as infinite number of overtones (with every higher overtone the volume of it decreases, so it is infinite only in theory). In the course of the development of musical instruments, instrument makers in Western musical tradition have increasingly specialised on clear-sounding instruments with an exactly defined keynote. By contrast, typical instruments of the Eastern musical tradition often are very rich in overtones and excel rather in their multifaceted timbre with singing bowl being one of the examples.
