We nodigen iedereen uit om naar de oude tennisbanen van Unilver in Vlaardingen te komen. Om de plek te ervaren en te zien wat deze plek ook voor jou kan betekenen.

We hebben de ruimte om zelf te maken, organiseren, ondernemen samen te komen en te doen.

Gister was het gangmakerscafe in the Neck of the Woods. In aanloop naar de twee nieuwe woontorens die wooncorporatie De Samenwerking uit Vlaardinge in District U gaat bouwen. Hoe vullen we de plint maatschappelijk in. Hoe vormen we deze community. Een mooi en ambitieus project.

Apperantly these Pallet Paintings are highly progressive

I come to this conclusion according to the reactions of the main public. With what is if some demeaner and not to seem to understand. Not being able to further than seeing a pallet. A seemingly worthless piece of trash with no value what so ever, so this can not be any art. While at the end they are great works rooted in the tradition of abstract painting. Adding the narritive, emotion, relationship and metaphore.

Its is for those who can see this, the bold and the brave that can look beyond and have a wish for understanding.

This is a common. I have had these remarks and miss understanding about the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam when I work there. It has always astound me that because someone does not understand is it is dismissed as nothing.

In fact it is not a pallet but a tree. A tree that was cut down and made in to a pallet so goods of trade could be stransported more easely from A to B. After the pallet forfilled this purpuse there are left discarted on the streets. Devalued and stripped from there Identity.

What I tried to do is to paint them back to the forrest. Using the colors and emotions I derive from walking through forests where ever I might find them.

I want to give the tree back its identity and its value.

The breaking point came ffor me to just keep looking at them when I saw them in the streets. I was not judging, just looking and at some point I did not see a pallet anymore but a composition of lines and stripes. A construction of direction, rithme of spacial differences. Because I saw the were al very different.

To be seen at -discoveries this week in Amsterdam.

There many great art to be seen at Re-discoveries.

One of them is Otto Snoek. A Rotterdam based photografer who shows a serie he made in Ukrain around the 90's. Otto is a great story teller in his pictures but also in spoken words. We had the nicest conversation ever about his work and the world. Sometimes you encounter the best. I knew of his work a long time but never had the pleasure to meet him. Till now.

Everyone should see this. And all the others. Art makes live more.
