Why does the calm from most yoga retreats fade so quickly?

You return feeling relaxed.

But within days, the same patterns return.

Because temporary relaxation is not lasting transformation.

At Arhanta Yoga Ashram in the Netherlands,

we follow the traditional Indian path of yoga.

• a fixed daily schedule

• guided asana and pranayama

• morning meditation

• vegetarian meals eaten with awareness

This is not about escaping life for a weekend.

It is about training the mind to remain steady — even after the retreat ends.

Dedicate a weekend to learning yoga

as it has been practiced for centuries.

Join us for a 3-day immersion

and experience authentic ashram life for yourself.

What if you’ve been chanting “Om” your whole life… but missing the actual practice?

“Om” is not just a sound you produce.
It is a vibration you generate through the body.

In traditional understanding, chanting begins from the belly.
That is why the instruction is simple—place your hand on the abdomen.

When you chant “Om… Om… Om…”
it is not repetition for ritual’s sake.
It is a repeated alignment with your idea of the Divine.

Dr. Ram Jain explains it clearly:
“O” is not just a word. It is a pointing toward God-consciousness.
So every chant becomes—O God… O God… O God…

But the deeper layer is experiential:
the sound is felt before it is heard.

Belly. Breath. Vibration. Awareness.

This is where chanting stops being mechanical
and becomes a method of inner connection.
In classical yoga practice, sound is used as a direct tool for awareness, not symbolism.

Yoga begins with practice.

Niyamas turn that practice into a way of living. The Niyamas are daily disciplines that create inner clarity and steadiness.
They guide how you think, act, respond, and grow.

• Shaucha → cultivating purity in body, mind, and environment
• Santosha → practicing gratitude while continuing to grow
• Tapas → building strength through consistent discipline
• Svadhyaya → developing self-awareness through observation
• Ishvara Pranidhana → acting fully with trust and surrender

This is where yoga moves beyond the mat.

Because real practice is built through:
• consistency
• awareness
• restraint
• responsibility

Inner discipline is what gives yoga depth. If your inner state does not change, your practice is incomplete.

Yoga is not limited to what you see on the mat.

Postures, flexibility, and strength are only one part of the practice.
Yoga also lives in your actions, your thoughts, and the decisions you make every day. Whenever you choose compassion over competition, patience over reaction, or kindness over judgment, you are practicing Ahimsa, whether you realize it or not.

Yoga is not only something you practice for an hour. It quietly shapes the way you move through life.

Which of these did you practice today?

Save this for later or share it with someone who lives their yoga beyond the mat.

✨️ Join the Arhanta Yoga Teaching Team ✨️

Arhanta Yoga Ashrams invites a small number of dedicated alumni to join our Staff Trainee Program and grow into teaching roles within our Yoga Teacher Training courses.
Each year, we conduct several 50 /75 / 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings in the Netherlands and India, and we are expanding our long-term teaching team to support these programs.
We are not necessarily looking for experienced teachers. What matters most to us is integrity, discipline, reliability, and a strong connection with the Arhanta method.

As a Staff Trainee, you will:
🔹 Assist during TTC programs
🔹 Support students during practice sessions
🔹 Help with class organization and alignment corrections
🔹 Gradually develop teaching skills within the Arhanta method

Over time, trainees may grow into Assistant Teacher and Main Teacher roles within our programs.

We are looking for alumni who:
🔸 Feel strongly connected to the Arhanta approach
🔸 Are responsible and dependable
🔸 Are comfortable spending time in our ashrams in the Netherlands or India
🔸 Are interested in a long-term role within the Arhanta team

If this resonates with you, please email us at info@arhantayoga.org with:
✔️ Your current location
✔️ Your availability during the coming year
✔️ A short note about why you would like to join the Arhanta team

Many people assume yoga is completely risk-free.
But is it really?

In this video, Dr. Ram Jain shares a perspective that is often overlooked.

No asana is entirely risk-free. Even experienced practitioners can face injuries at times. This is not a failure, but a reminder that yoga is a physical discipline that requires awareness, patience, and proper guidance.

He shares insights to help you approach your practice more safely and mindfully.

A small shift in understanding can change how you move, respond, and progress.

If this resonates, consider sharing it with someone serious about their yoga journey.

A steady yoga practice is not built on motivation. It is built on discipline and structure.

Many people begin yoga with strong motivation.

They attempt advanced poses.
They push for fast progress.
They expect results quickly.

In the beginning, this enthusiasm feels powerful. But motivation is emotional energy. It changes from day to day.

Some days you feel inspired to practice. Other days you feel tired, busy, or distracted.

When motivation fades, practice becomes inconsistent.
One session is skipped. Then another.

Gradually, the routine disappears.

A steady yoga practice is not built on motivation.
It is built on discipline and structure. When your practice has a clear routine, you return to the mat even on days when motivation is low. That is how consistency is built.

Save this reminder for the days when practice feels difficult.

Regular Camel Pose (Ustrasana) should not be practiced in a Yin class. Because it is a Yang pose. However, a supported version of camel pose can be practiced with the help of a chair as a yin pose.

In today’s lesson, we explore Camel Pose with a chair variation.

Using a chair helps you understand the correct movement pattern, support the spine, and safely open the chest before attempting the full posture on the mat.

This variation is especially helpful if Camel Pose feels intense in your lower back.

Watch Dr. Ram Jain, as he demonstrates how to practice this variation correctly.

When practiced with proper alignment, Camel Pose can improve spinal mobility, open the front body, and strengthen the muscles that support the back.

If you know someone working on their backbends, consider sharing this reel with them.

You don’t practice Yamas by agreeing with them.

Most practitioners can list them.

Few can point to where they actually failed them today.

It stays conceptual, safe, and untested.

That’s the gap.

The Yamas in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are constraints that expose your habits in real time.

Look closer:

• Ahimsa isn’t just “non-violence” - it’s how you speak under pressure.
• Satya isn’t “truthfulness” - it’s what you avoid saying.
• Aparigraha isn’t “non-possessiveness” - it’s where you overconsume.

No philosophy works if it stays abstract.

The change is simple: from agreement → observation → correction.

If you’re not seeing friction, you’re not applying it.

Banana Pose may look simple, but when practiced correctly, it creates a deep stretch through the side body, especially the ribs, waist, and hips, while supporting spinal mobility.

In this reel, Dr. Ram Jain shows how to practice it with proper alignment.

If your shoulders feel uncomfortable with your arms overhead, adjust the setup:
• Keep one arm down
• Use support
• Or lower the hands

Small changes can completely change how the posture feels.

If you found this helpful, consider sharing it with someone who may need guidance to practice this pose correctly.
