If I’ve sent you this video, it’s probably cause you’re going through what we call ‘the dip’
it’s super common in the first phase of care, especially with things like a herniated disc or a frozen shoulder. at first you might feel a bit better, then suddenly everything flares up again. that’s your body reacting to the changes we’re making and it’s part of the process, not a setback.
what you must understand is that most of the other people you’ve probably seen before like the doctor, the physio, the manual therapist, they all focus on the symptom. their goal is just to make you feel better, and sure that’s nice, but our goal isn’t just short-term relief. chiropractors are here to make real structural changes that actually fix the root of the problem, not just patch it up. I tell people in the first visit that if you’re only looking for temporary relief, then honestly, this might not be the place for you.
in the first visit with a case like this, I always explain that we’re almost guaranteed to have a dip. when that happens, don’t panic, just stick to the plan. every client nods and agrees when I say that, but the truth is, you don’t really know if they’ve understood until the dip actually comes. it’s easy to nod in the first visit, it’s a whole different story when it’s two in the morning and that shoulder’s letting you know something’s changed, or when the sciatic nerve starts screaming at you.
some people let their emotions take over and they panic, while others stay calm and say, “this is exactly what Zarak told me would happen,” and they keep doing what I told them to do.
don’t just take my word for it, listen to what my clients have to say.
chris had a herniated disc just like me. during his first phase of care he had a lot of ups and downs. there were moments where he felt great and others where the pain came back hard but he stuck with it. now he’s doing amazing, playing volleyball again at a high level and completely healed from his herniated disc. these days he just comes in once or twice a month for maintenance care to keep everything on track.
I’ve been through the dip myself, and I’ve helped hundreds of people through it too.
Follow the plan.
