"Discover the stillness within...
Focus on the breath to quiet the mind."

Dandasana, is a seated pose, and is the starting point for all seated forward bends and twists. As a whole body exercise without movement, this posture directly improves your sitting posture. Taking time to ensure your Dandasana is correct is a worthwhile exercise that will ensure a firm basis for many more complex poses and movements, and will improve all your yoga practices.

One of the key purposes of practicing Dandasana is to improve awareness of your spine’s alignment, throughout its entire length. This improvement in your awareness will lead to you assuming a better posture, and in time, this improvement will become habitual and your entire body will benefit.

HAPPY CHHATH PUJA! 🙌

Chhath Puja is dedicated to Lord Surya, the sun god 🌞, and spans four days.

Today is the third and main day of Chhath Puja - traditionally a full day of fasting without water as a way to offer arghya to the setting Sun. "Arghya" is a Sanskrit word meaning "worthy of honor" or "offering". It represents a sign of respect, honor, and devotion when given to a guest or deity. This is the only time of the year when arghya is given to the setting sun. 🌅 The third day of fasting continues throughout the night, and "parana", Sanskrit for the ceremonial breaking of a fast, is done on the next day after sunrise.

The Chhath Puja is also known as Pratihar, Dala Chhath, Chhathi and Surya Shashthi. ☀ 🙏

During this 3-day course, you will learn the ancient Ayurvedic healing system, exploring Abhyanga full-body massage and the profound impact of touch. The theoretical component covers the basic principles of Ayurveda, including elements, 20 gunas, and the benefits of massage and oils.

The majority of the course is hands-on, focusing on both giving and receiving massages. It caters to therapists, healers, yogis, or anyone with a curiosity about enhancing the well-being of friends and family members.

In this full 2.5 hour workshop, Julie will introduce to the principles of Embodied Vinyasa, which will allow you to break free from limiting concepts within your body and awareness of what an asana practice can be. You’ll find freedom like you’ve never experienced.

Julie will guide you through a flow-based practice where each pose is an exploration under the skin. You’ll fall in love with your breath and move with an ease of awareness that opens possibilities you may have never considered.

We explore poses rather than ‘perfecting’ them. We tune into our inner guidance to find where space might be available, where we can integrate strength and find ease moving from one pose to the next.

Utkatasana has its roots in ancient yogic manuscripts which named it a warrior-type stance that carries the fierce power of military combatants - "Utkata" in Sanskrit meaning "fierce intensity" and “asana” meaning posture.

Utkatasana is a standing-seated posture in yoga, giving rise to its full meaning. This pose represents strength alongside determination and resistance and provides numerous physical and mental benefits.

ABOUT MARIETTE DE KROON
In 2007 Mariette met her teacher Tulku Lobsang – a Buddhist master and physician – and his warmness teachings arrived directly in her heart.

From Tulku Lobsang she learned Lu Jong Tibetan Healing Yoga, Tsa Lung, Inner Fire, Bliss, Mindfulness, Buddhist Psychology and Kum Nye (Tibetan Massage). The origin of these beautiful teachings lies in Tantrayana Buddhism, Bön and Tibetan medicine. Mariette feels home in these diamond teachings, and she loves to share them.

Since 2009 Mariette gives the Lu Jong Teacher Training Education in the Netherlands. Lu Jong means art of movement and transformation. It is accessible to everyone and amazingly effective. On all levels: physically, energetically and mentally.

Birthlight Postnatal yoga promotes optimum health using movement, balance and relaxation, allowing a mother’s body to recover from childbirth to its full potential. It offers safe and sound re-toning of the whole body over the first year, avoiding long-term problems of joint instability and hyper-mobility.

We start the course with the Postpartum Recovery Practices (handout included) and gradually build up to a more regular yoga practice during the weeks.

The course is with babies from 6 weeks to 9 months of age.

🪔 Diwali or Deepavali is the “festival of lights.” 🪔

Like many things in India, there is not merely one story behind this important festival. ✨

Historically, it marks the day when Krishna defeated Narakasura. 👹 The tradition of lighting lamps goes back 12 to 15 thousand years. People realized that life hits a point of inertia at this time of the year, so if you yourself are not living like a cracker, fully alive and on, at least crackers around you could wake you up a bit. That is why on Naraka Chaturdashi, from around 4am, all over India, crackers are burst, so everyone wakes up and comes alive.

Others celebrate Diwali as the day Lord Rama, his wife Sita Devi and brother Lakshmana return to their homeland after 14 years in exile. The villagers lit a path for Rama, who had defeated the demon king Ravana. 🔥

Some also celebrate the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi during Diwali. As the goddess of prosperity, wealth and fertility, the romantic Diwali story says that she chose Lord Vishnu, one of Hinduism’s most important deities, to be her husband on the night of Diwali. 💕

But Diwali extends beyond just India. In other cultures, Diwali coincides with harvest and new year celebrations. No matter which Diwali story you celebrate, it’s always a day of new beginnings and light over darkness. 🪔

Be less attached."

In the Bhagavad Gita, it is taught that we should “learn to act with a spirit of detachment, being equal to success or failure.” Practicing detachment (or Vairagya in Sanskrit) is one of the spiritual foundations of Yoga. 🙏

There is no shortcut to detachment. That’s why the Bhagavad Gita recommends developing our detachment muscles by working them day by day, starting with the small stuff. Detachment takes practice, and it reveals itself in stages. 🌱
