De eerste afspraak de vitaliteit echo:
Een vitaliteitsecho is de eerste echo die we plannen meestal tussen de 8e en 9e week in de zwangerschap. Tijdens deze vroege echo kijkt de verloskundige of de zwangerschap zich op de juiste plek in de baarmoeder bevindt en of er een kloppend hartje te zien is.
Dit is een belangrijk teken dat de zwangerschap vitaal is.
Wat is er te zien bij een vitaliteitsecho?
Tijdens de vitaliteitsecho wordt gecontroleerd of er sprake is van een intacte zwangerschap. Er wordt gekeken naar:
• de aanwezigheid van een vruchtzakje
• het kloppen van het hartje
• de ligging van het vruchtje
• het aantal embryo’s, bijvoorbeeld een tweeling echo
• de grootte van het embryo
Omdat de baarmoeder in deze fase nog diep in het be**en ligt, wordt de vitaliteitsecho vaak uitgevoerd als inwendige echo. Dat geeft een helder beeld van de ontwikkeling van het kindje.
Uiteraard leggen we dit vast en krijg je een echo foto mee.

The first appointment is the vitality scan.
A vitality scan is the first scan we usually schedule between the 8th and 9th week of pregnancy. During this early scan, the midwife checks whether the pregnancy is properly positioned in the uterus and whether a heartbeat can be seen.
This is an important sign that the pregnancy is viable.
What can be seen during a vitality scan? During the vitality scan, we check whether there is an intact pregnancy. We look at:
• the presence of a gestational sac
• the heartbeat
• the position of the fetus
• the number of embryos, for example, a twin scan
• the size of the embryo
Because the uterus is still deep in the pelvis at this stage, the vitality scan is often performed as an internal ultrasound. This provides a clear picture of the baby's development.
