Our employees at he fADA clinic in Kigali decided to make an information video in response to covid. In this video they explain to patients which extra measures are taken to prevent infection. The video was also broadcast on Rwandan TV. We are proud of them!

Another prevention program: Byumba Primary School 2nd class is very satisfied because they are brushing every day. Grace to the efforts of their teachers and the knowledge and motivation of Alphonse Karangwa who is one of the dental therapists working in the A.D.A./fADA clinic in Kigali.

The Dental Prevention Program in Karama primary school (Kigali Rwanda) is very succesfull. Dental Therapists of the R.D.A. in collaboration with A.D.A./fADA where able to inspire and to motivatie the teachers, the schoolchildren and the parents of the importance of brushing your teeth well. They were invited to come to the school to thank them.

Vooraleer er in Rwanda een Health Center geopend kan worden is er in Nederland veel voorwerk nodig. Revisie van meestal loodzware behandelstoelen, bestellen van onderdelen, veel telefoontjes en mails, een verzendkist maken, inpakken, formulieren in orde brengen, transporteren naar Schiphol etc. Daarvoor gaat onze dank uit naar de inzet van de vrijwiligers die dit mogelijk maken.

Before a Health Center can be openend in Rwanda, a lot of work is done in the Netherlands. Revision of the treatment chair, ordering of parts, phone calls and e-mails, making a shopping box, parking, arranging forms, transport to Schiphol etc.
Our thanks go to the volunteers who make this possible.

Proud of A.D.A./fADA!!!
In collaboration with district authorities, General director of BYUMBA hospital and Head of health center, A.D.A./fADA installed the dental services in the health center of Rubaya and it is already in operation!
RUBAYA health center is located in northern province, GICUMBI district, it’s near the RWANDA and UGANDA border, where there were no dental facilities for the population. From now there is a dental cabinet with all necessary facilities.

This is a look into the dental clinic of the district hospital at Byumba. There is no running water, all taps serve as decoration. The gray container is the foot-operated hand- washing installation. On the wall hangs the instruction for hand washing in 2 languages, Kinyarwanda and English. For Rwandan concepts is this clinic a model of hygiene and practically furnished. We are proud of what fADA/A.D.A. has achieved here.

Fada heeft in Rwanda in het oude jaar weer tal van activiteiten ontwikkeld op het gebied van mondzorg zoals: preventie programma's op de lagere scholen, het geven van poetsinstructie in de open lucht, informatie en training aan de community health workers, colleges aan de tandheelkundige faculteit van de universiteit in Kigali, training aan de stoel, individueel onderwijs etc....

Kijk, zonder tanden! Maar een bezoek aan de FADA/A.D.A kliniek in Kigali deed wonderen. Het resultaat mag er zijn. Het maken van protheses heeft een hoge vlucht genomen.
Met dank aan Pierre die op dit gebied grote sprongen voorwaarts maakt. En Vincent die zich met grote inzet het tandtechnisch werk eigen maakt.

Look, without teeth! But a visit to the FADA/A.D.A clinic did wonders. Wonderful result. The making of protheses has taken a quick flight.
Thanks to DT Pierre who is making great strides in this area and DT Vincent who acquires the dental work with great effort.

FADA in het zonnetje!
Tijdens de open dagen in het district Gicumbi konden bezoekers plaats nemen in een stoel. Er werden door FADA/A.D.A. ca 350 personen gescreend en geadviseerd. De dagen worden gebruikt om de bevolking te sensibiliseren over het belang van tandheelkundige gezondheidszorg. FADA kreeg van de districtsautoriteiten voor haar werk een certificaat uitgereikt. Daar zijn we trots op en inderdaad : "together, we can do more!"

In Mukono ontvangen 136 Communitu Health Workers een poetsinstructie in de open lucht. Er was een mooie ambiance en het werd een groot succes!

Steeds meer Community Health Workers (CHW) zijn betrokken bij het preventieprogramma van fADA/A.D.A. Dat heeft een enorme impact op het succes van het programma. Deze mensen gaan de heuvels in om gezinnen te informeren over het belang van poetsen, het zoveel mogelijk vermijden van suiker, stoppen met roken etc.
Zelf krijgen ze van fADA/A.D.A. een uitgebreid training en voorlichting over de factoren die van belang zijn voor een goede mondhygiëne. Ze zijn onze belangrijkste ambassadeurs!
Op de foto zie je Vincent Haragirimana , een van de dental therapist in de A.D.A. kliniek in Kigali, die de CHW's traint.

More aan more community health workers (CHW) are involved in the prevention program of fADA/A.D.A. That has a huge impact on the success of the program. Community health workers go into the hills to inform the people about the importance of brushing the teeth, decreasing the consumption of sugar in foods, stop smoking etc.
They receive an extensive training and education about the factors that are important for good oral hygiene.
They are our most important ambassadors!

Afgelopen maanden hebben A.D.A./fADA en RDA veel activiteit ontwikkeld over preventie aan jonge kinderen. Op de lagere scholen in het district Gicumbi wordt poetsinstructie gegeven. Alle kinderen hebben hun eigen tandenborstel, bekertje en tandpasta. Dat blijft op school zodat er elke dag onder leiding van een leerkracht gepoetst kan worden. In de Karama school kregen 560 kinderen tegelijkertijd poetsinstructie! Het was een grote Poets Party!

In recent months, a lot of activity had been developed about prevention for young children in the district Gicumbi. Brushing instructions has been given at the primary schools. Each child has his own toothbrush, cup and toothpaste.
That stays at school so they can brush heir teeth every day led by a teacher. In the Karama school, 560 children received brushing instructions at the same time. A great Bushing Party !!!

fADA/A.D.A. traint de community health workers in het district Gicumbi. De training gaat over preventie; men leert over goed tanden poetsen en meerdere preventieve maatregelen zoals; hoe kun je de kinderen helpen met poetsen. Poets minstens 2 keer per dag je tanden en dat voor minstens 3 minuten.......Waarom is het belangrijk dat iedereen in het gezin een eigen tandenborstel heeft? Verminder de suikerconsumptie en bezoek minstens 1 keer per half jaar de tandarts. Dat alles zorgt er voor dat de gezinnen in de heuvels goede informatie krijgen over hoe ze met simpele maatregelen problemen met hun tanden kunnen voorkomen. Het zijn de community health workers die de gezinnen regelmatig informatie geven over thema's betreffende gezondheid.

fADA/A.D.A. trains the community health workers in the district of Gicumbi. The training is about prevention. They learn about brushing technics and other preventive messages like brushing of children’s teeth, not sharing tooth brushes, industrial sugar consumption reduction , visit dental services every 6 months ,brushing twice and at least 3 minutes etc…
In this way many families receive the information about good oral hygiene and how to prevent problems with the teeth with simple measures. The community health workers visits he families regularly to give them information on health issues.
