Self Health is a start-up striving to improve the life of thousands of citizens in The Hague and around the World. Hospitals and nursing homes cannot keep up with this ever-growing demand. Why is this happening? People are enjoying increasingly longer lives and this is awesome! With this increase in age there is also an increase in medical needs due to decreased mobility, loneliness and chronic di

sabilities. Many are left in hospitals and nursing homes without a sense of purpose or community. Is this the life we want for our loved ones? Companies throughout the world have aimed to tackle this challenge. This has led to the creation of many amazing E-health products which could accommodate our seniors. Further, eliminating the need for excessive care of nurses or family. But most importantly, they can remain in the most suitable environment, their own homes. Life could be enjoyed to its fullest without worries. So how has this not become a reality yet? We at Self Health, have identified a lack of accessibility. Therefore we aim to provide easy access and training for e-health products. Our team believes no one should be left in care a care facility feeling lonely, sick and without purpose. The unique combination of accessibility and training provided by Self Health allows our seniors to be cared for in a personal and loving manner. Support Self Health to accommodate our loved ones, in the way, we expect to be treated.

Michael van den Ende

Michael is an enthusiastic 23 year old student attending Leiden University. He is currently studying social and economic history at the Humanities faculty.

Michael aims to make the most of his life and helps others to fulfill this goal. Michael believes everyone should be able to live life to the fullest. Coming from a family with a medical background but also a family experiencing difficulties in life due to illness and chronic pain, strengthens his drive to help wherever possible.

How and what is e-Health?

Companies throughout the world have aimed to tackle this challenge. This has led to the creation of many amazing e-Health products that have the potential to improve the livelihood of our seniors.

E-Health solutions are products that enhance medical services using technology. The potential lies in the ability to eliminate the need for time-intensive and costly nursing care. And, most importantly, they allow the elderly to receive care in an environment that is the most convenient for them: their own homes. Why is this not a reality yet?

E-Health products are difficult to find. We solve this problem. By identifying selected e-Health products from around the world, compiling them and allowing for easy access. In addition, we provide training needed to use those products as we understand the difficulties associated with using new technology.

Max is a third year International Studies student from Berlin, Germany. After completing his IB Diploma at the Berlin International School, he moved to The Hague to experience its vibrant international atmosphere.
Max comes from a small family of entrepreneurs. Growing up in a business environment seemed normal, and still, motivates Max to learn as much as possible and continue to grow.

Why Self Health?

Life expectancy is constantly increasing; and that is awesome! However, such an increase also results in an expansion of our medical needs connected to difficulties with mobility, loneliness, and chronic disabilities. Our current medical system has failed to keep up with this demographic phenomenon. As a result, many seniors are left in hospitals and nursing homes without a sense of purpose or community. Is this really the life we want for our loved ones?

Adela Kralova

Adela is a 21 years old student of International Studies born in Prague, Czech Republic. After studying in France and her home country, languages and culture diversity have become a great passion of hers, thus she has decided to continue her studies in the well-know international city such as The Hague.

Inspired by her mother, a coordinator of clinical studies, Adela was eager to learn more about Health care sector already at younger age. Adela is following courses such as Basics of Pharmaceutical studies, Medical Latin or Healthcare management in addition to her humanities degree. That is to say, Adela is able to come in to the fore to discuss different perspectives of health care system and impact of our project.
