Welcome to our new extra newsletter at Yogaseads: ‘BuddhaSeads’.
As we step into this fresh new year, we hope to inspire you to cultivate your meditation practice, much like planting seeds for personal development. In this monthly newsletter, we hope to give you more insights in the practice of Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation and encourage you to dip you toe into it!

Let’s be clear – this isn’t about New Year’s resolutions (we all know how those usually end up!). Instead, let your natural curiosity guide you. Step by step, we will guide you through the ancient practice of Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation designed to liberate the mind from suffering and discover inner peace. We will teach you how to focus your attention on the here and now, observe thoughts and feelings without judgment, and cultivate a sense of calm and clarity.

The Potential Benefits Through consistent yoga and meditation practice, you might find yourself feeling more relaxed, more focused, and lighter in your day-to-day life. This ancient practice, rooted in over 2500 years of Buddhist tradition, offers profound techniques for achieving mental clarity and emotional balance. Isn’t that something worth exploring?

We’re happy to announce that starting in January, we will continue our beloved Sunday Yin and meditation combination from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. The Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation class on Wednesdays from 18.00 to 19.00 will transform into a Gentle Yoga & Meditation session starting at 17.45 till 18.45. We believe that this new format will attract more participants and create a welcoming environment for everyone to explore mindfulness through both yoga and meditation.

Meditation is for everyone. No experience is necessary. We aim to create classes that are a safe space for you to practice and grow. Please know that we are available anytime you have questions. We love to see you in class as we embark and continue this mindful journey together.

Dear yogis and friends,
With mixed emotions, I want to share with you that I have decided to step down as owner & founder of Yogaseads. Making the decision to move on has not been easy. After much reflection, a year of ups and downs, I feel that it’s time for me to focus my energy in new directions. When I founded Yogaseads in 2012, I was on a mission: provide a space where people could learn about the practice of yoga and it’s benefits,something that I was (and still am) very passionate about.
A place that offered different styles of yoga, where people could practice together, connect to themselves and others and build a yoga-community.
In these 14 years, I’ve seen many people come and go—and come back again. I’ve witnessed their growth, the new friendships they made with fellow yogi’s, and the transformations along the way. These are the true gifts of yoga: not just the physical practice, but it is about self-discovery, and the sense of community that we create together.
In 2016 Barbara van Dortmond joined as co-owner on our current location at the Maaswijkstraat. Together we managed to keep growing it to where it is now. It has become a strong community – a space for growth, reflection, love, and deep connection.

I am really proud of all that we’ve accomplished together, and I am confident that the studio will continue to grow under the care of Barbara, together with Tanya as general manager and our wonderful team of teachers.
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you – from those who walked through the door for the first time, to those who have been with me through every step of this journey. To our team of teachers, and other people who I’ve worked with and to all who have shared their energy, love, and passion with us:
you are the heart of this studio, and it’s because of you that this space has come to life in such a beautiful way!! Thank you for everything. Sutra 2.33: “Vitarka Badhane Pratipaksha Bhavanam”

Translation: When disturbed by negative thoughts, cultivate the opposite.

As the holidays approach, we often face moments of stress or tension—whether it’s navigating crowded stores, managing family dynamics, or feeling overwhelmed by all the things. Sutra 2.33 gives us a simple, powerful tool: when negativity sneaks in, flip the script.

Feeling annoyed? Try practicing patience.
Overwhelmed? Pause and focus on gratitude.
Jealous of someone else’s holiday plans? Reflect on the blessings in your own life.

This isn’t about ignoring your feelings—it’s about consciously choosing a different response that creates peace instead of stress.

The breath has the power to make you feel more vital, perform better, relax more deeply, and free you from limiting patterns, tensions, emotions, and even trauma hidden in the body. Your breath can beautifully help you become aware of what is happening beneath the surface.

Next to our weekly breathing classes and monthly breathwork circles where we build awareness around breath in a group setting, we now also offer 1:1 Breath Therapy sessions that can be booked outside of our regular schedule. All breathwork related services are facilitated by Barbara K.

Breathing Therapy is suitable for almost everyone, regardless of age or physical condition. It can be particularly helpful to increase physical performance, get more focussed.

AND it’s a great support in managing your stress levels & improving your emotional health because it can ultimately give inside in your personal wiring. And once there is insight, change can occur and help with:

🌿 Yoga Beyond the Mat: Embracing the Power of Pause 🌿

In yoga, we often focus on flowing from one pose to the next, but the true magic lies in the pause between movements. These brief moments of stillness are where we integrate the practice, allowing the body and mind to process what we’ve just experienced. They’re not just spaces in time—they’re opportunities to check in, reset, and deepen our awareness.

Practically, this can look like:

✨ Between Poses: Instead of rushing from one asana to the next, take a full breath in stillness. Feel the effects of the previous pose on your body. Are there areas of tension or release? Is your breath smooth or jagged? This awareness helps you move with greater intention and care.

✨ After Deep Breathing: After a round of pranayama or deep breathing, take a moment to sit in silence. Notice how the breath has shifted, and how your energy feels different. In these moments of non-doing, your nervous system recalibrates, grounding you more deeply into the present.

✨ During Transitions: In challenging transitions, like going from Downward Dog to Warrior II, pause for a beat. This isn’t about holding the pose but about creating mindful transitions—moving consciously from one place to another. Life is full of transitions, and yoga teaches us how to navigate them with grace.

These pauses are where the practice becomes a dialogue between body, breath, and mind. So next time you step on the mat, remember: the space between poses is just as important as the poses themselves. 💫

In Bhakti, we let go of the ego, and instead, we surrender to love—whether that’s love for a higher power, love for others, or love for life itself. It’s a reminder that yoga isn’t just about poses, but also about how we show up with kindness, gratitude, and open hearts. 🙏
