As with any disease, stress symptoms can start gradually or suddenly, and the severity of the symptoms that you will show will depend on your ability to cope with the stressful stimulus (a situation or fact). Your reaction to stress is individual and depends on the different life experiences that each person has had, determining how your body will react.
The muscle tension is increased through stress. Sometimes, this tension can be so high that it feels like an ''armor'' trying to protect you from the threatening situation. This muscle contraction will definitely manifest as muscle pain in different parts of the body (head, neck, back, or shoulders). Through this "muscle armor", the person can also experience difficulty with breathing, which increases anxiety.
In my practice, I’ve seen many people who suffer from pain. Many times, they struggle to associate it with the real cause, which may be rooted in their emotions. A holistic approach like the RPG method and the Alexander Technique helps them reduce these symptoms and acknowledge the relationship between symptoms and the real root-cause. This helps my patients learn more about themselves and find new ways to deal with stress. My approach doesn't replace psychological help; it complements it by improving the awareness of the body-mind connection.
When needed, I will suggest to find more emotional support with a specialist.
