Children usually follow a path of development with many bumps on the road. They have to learn, grow, overcome boundaries and they can experience struggles. Most of the time these struggles are part of a normal development and lasts only a certain small amount of time, just as long as the child needs to overcome the bump on their developmental path. However, sometimes things are more difficult for

parents and children. When the family lives in another country which they do not call home, things can become more difficult. While parents are adjusting to the new language, new culture and a new job, children need to make similar adjustments too while they are also confronted with the daily struggles of development. Embracing Horizons offers support to children who experience social and emotional struggles, developmental delays or behavior problems. Transformations do not happen overnight.

A caterpillar does not turn into a butterfly right away, instead, it first needs to make a cocoon and wait for the process to be finalized before showing it’s new wings.

So too it goes for our clients; they may first dream or envision what will be on the horizon for them. But that is only the beginning of the change process.

Moving homes, countries, might be as ‘simple’ as knowing the destination, packing the bags and going. But the process of change within a person takes more time to materialize.
