Tommie Beugelsdijk, born and raised in The Hague, a true Hagenees at heart, made his professional football debut not for ADO but for FC Dordrecht. This was followed by a few wonderful years at his beloved ADO, a stint in Frankfurt, before returning to The Hague. It was there that the famous phrase “Rustáááfgh” first flowed from Beugelsdijk’s mouth. A true cult hero was born! After a short spell at Sparta and Helmond Sport, the towering defender had enough. Nowadays, Beugelsdijk is also involved in politics, serving as a council member for the local party “Hart voor Den Haag” 💚💛

Raphinha! ❤️💙💛💚

The football world is applauding Raphinha. With two goals, two assists, and a penalty he won, the Brazilian from FC Barcelona was instrumental in the 7-2 victory over Newcastle United in the Champions League Round of 16.

Raphinha was named Man of the Match in the duel that secured Barça a place in the quarter-finals. ‘He confirmed his status as a key player,’ writes Mundo Deportivo. ‘His pressing, his ability to inspire his teammates, and his effectiveness are impressive. A spectacular performance.’

From France, Raphinha receives a 10 from Foot Mercato. ‘A performance worthy of a Ballon d’Or. The Brazilian was ruthless and involved in six of the seven goals,’ it reads. ‘A perfect match.’

Karl Fredrik “Freddie” Ljungberg! 🇸🇪❤️🔥🏆

He was a magnificent player with inimitable runs, powerplay, and incredible goals. He won two English championships with Arsenal and played alongside many other legends. Thinking back on that team from that time brings a smile to my face. In 2002 and 2006, he was also voted Sweden’s best footballer. He played a total of 216 Premier League matches, scoring 46 times. These days, “Freddie” works as an analyst for Viaplay.

Ruudje Heus en Mike Obiku 1995❤️🤍

Who doesn’t know them from Mike Obiku and Ruudje Heus? Two cult heroes from Feyenoord in the 1990s. Who on this team wasn’t a cult member? They were primarily a team of friends who, through sheer joy and determination, won some great trophies. Here’s a moment from the cup match against Ajax in 1995, when Feyenoord defeated their arch-rivals. They scored the goals to make it 1-2!

Jari Schuurman ❤️🤍💙

Jari Schuurman returned to his old love, Willem II, this summer. In the 2016/17 season, he played for the Tilburg club on loan. After his loan spell, he joined NEC and, through that, FC Dordrecht, where he played for the past six seasons and earned the nickname “Sheephead.” Last season, Jari played against Willem II in the play-offs. He scored in the penalty shootout and reacted with some emotion ;) to Willem II. He apologized on TV afterward, knowing then that a return to Tilburg was in the works 😉 This season, he is the captain of Willem II, but unfortunately, he was injured early on. But he’s on his way back; let this be the continuation of a great season! Good luck, Jari!

Donnarumma comes from AC Milan’s youth academy. The goalkeeper made his Serie A debut on October 25th. Milan won 2-1 at home in San Siro, with goals from Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano. Donnarumma played the entire match and was passed once, following a free kick by Domenico Berardi. He was sixteen years and 242 days old at the time, making him the third-youngest goalkeeper ever to start a Serie A match.

With 26 caps to his name, he went into Euro 2020, which was postponed a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, as Italy’s first-choice goalkeeper. He conceded only three goals throughout the tournament. In the semi-final against Spain, which was 1-1 after 120 minutes, he saved a penalty from Álvaro Morata, after which Jorginho fired his country into the final. On July 11th, 2021, he won the final against England. He saved the match after extra time by saving two penalties from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka in the penalty shootout with the score at 1-1.

Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana is currently one of the biggest stars of modern football. He is known as one of the best players in the world. Yamal came through the FC Barcelona youth academy in 2023. Upon his first-team debut in April 2023, he became the youngest player in the club’s history (15 years, 9 months, and 16 days). Yamal made his debut for the Spanish national team in 2023 and in 2024 became the youngest player ever to play in the European Championship, which they ultimately won. At 18, he is already a key player for FC Barcelona. What is his ceiling?

Micky van de Ven, from Wormer, is a remarkably strong and lightning-quick defender. He joined Tottenham Hotspur from VfL Wolfsburg in August 2023. He made his international debut for the Dutch national team in 2023.

His second season at Tottenham (2024/25) concluded with a UEFA Europa League victory. During the final against Manchester United, Van de Ven made a crucial save on the goal line. His incredible speed made him once again the fastest player in the competition

Juan Román Riquelme is an Argentine former footballer, nicknamed Romy in his home country. A beautiful footballer to watch, a true lover of the game. With velvety technique, inimitable moves, and a beautiful free kick, he’s a player I won’t soon forget. He transferred back to Argentinos Juniors in July 2014, where he began his professional career in 1992, and retired at the end of that year. Riquelme played 51 international matches for the Argentina national team from 1997 to 2008. He was named South American Footballer of the Year in 2001.

On March 10, 2009, Riquelme resigned from the national team as long as Maradona was in charge. Maradona publicly criticized Riquelme and did not call up the 30-year-old for the friendly against France. The Boca Juniors midfielder claimed to have been shocked to learn from the media that he would not be playing for Argentina against France. He also decided to retire from international football in 2006, but this time the decision appears to be final.

“Memphis” 🥇⚽️🇳🇱

Memphis Depay is now equal with Robin van Persie in goals and international matches. 50 goals in 102 international matches, an average to be proud of. Last match he played with a short haircut for the first time in a long time. His headband has disappeared for a while. Last European Championship did not go entirely as Memphis had hoped. Will he go to the World Cup? And how many goals will he eventually score for the Netherlands, will he become the all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team? I actually think so ;)

Royston Drenthe made his debut in professional football as a left back at Feyenoord on 15 January 2006. Due to his passion and power that he threw into matches, he quickly became a crowd favourite. After a flying start at Feyenoord and Jong Oranje (with that team he became European Champion in 2007), he earned a transfer to the “big” Real Madrid. With this team he won the title in his first year. In 2012 he left Madrid for good, where he unfortunately never became a defining player. After that he played for various clubs including Hercules Alicante, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Sparta Rotterdam. Drenthe played once for the big Oranje, in 2010 against Turkey. Outside of football, Drenthe is also a busy guy, he raps, wrote an autobiography in 2017 and nowadays he can often be seen as a football analyst and in various TV programs.

Ted Lasso, an American college football coach, is unexpectedly recruited to coach the (fictional) English Premier League soccer team AFC Richmond, despite having no experience coaching soccer players. The team’s owner, Rebecca Welton, came into possession of the club after divorcing her cheating husband, Rupert. She has hired Lasso in the hopes that he will take the team down and get revenge on Rupert, who cares more about AFC Richmond than anything else. However, Ted’s charm, personality and humor win over Rebecca, the team, and all those who were skeptical about his appointment.
