Donnarumma comes from AC Milan’s youth academy. The goalkeeper made his Serie A debut on October 25th. Milan won 2-1 at home in San Siro, with goals from Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano. Donnarumma played the entire match and was passed once, following a free kick by Domenico Berardi. He was sixteen years and 242 days old at the time, making him the third-youngest goalkeeper ever to start a Serie A match.
With 26 caps to his name, he went into Euro 2020, which was postponed a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, as Italy’s first-choice goalkeeper. He conceded only three goals throughout the tournament. In the semi-final against Spain, which was 1-1 after 120 minutes, he saved a penalty from Álvaro Morata, after which Jorginho fired his country into the final. On July 11th, 2021, he won the final against England. He saved the match after extra time by saving two penalties from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka in the penalty shootout with the score at 1-1.
