The first step to coping and overcoming burnout is being able to recognize and identify the warning signs ⚠️

Our bodies are constantly talking to us - from physiological symptoms to how we action ourselves to show up daily - it's up to us to listen and acknowledge what it's trying to tell us.

How does burnout show up in you? What has your experience been?

Burnout is like having a bottle be filled to the absolute brim with water but not being able to tip some of the water out and still having a tap running over it, all at the same time.

Sounds suffocating, doesn't it? 😩

Dealing with burnout requires a combination of self-care (resourcing), communication and lifestyle adjustments & showing up more visibly to gain support.

Recognising burnout is crucial to taking action! 🌱

Embracing a growth mindset offers numerous benefits, including:

Resilience: Individuals with a growth mindset view challenges as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks, leading to greater resilience in the face of adversity.

Continuous Learning: A growth mindset fosters a love for learning and encourages individuals to seek out new experiences and knowledge to expand their skills and capabilities.

Increased Persistence: People with a growth mindset are more likely to persevere in the face of obstacles, as they believe in their ability to improve through effort and dedication.

Higher Achievement: By focusing on effort and growth rather than innate abilities, individuals with a growth mindset are more likely to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Enhanced Relationships: Embracing a growth mindset can lead to better communication and collaboration with others, as individuals are more open to feedback and constructive criticism.

Reduced Stress: Adopting a growth mindset can help alleviate stress and anxiety by reframing challenges as opportunities for growth and development.

Overall, cultivating a growth mindset can lead to greater personal and professional success, improved well-being, and a more fulfilling life journey.

Let's practice to tolerate discomfort together! 🌱
Discomfort is normal, it's not threatening. Yes, it's not nice! At the same time, it is very normal but we don't have to run or hide from it.

Swipe through to better understand the root and function of PERFECTIONISM & how to take a first step to begin addressing this.

and remember:

⭐YOU ARE ENOUGH.
⭐YOU MATTER SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU EXIST.
⭐YOUR UNIQUENESS MAKES YOUR SPECIAL.
⭐YOUR SELF-WORTH IS NOT TIED TO ACHIEVING AN OUTCOME.
⭐THE EBBS AND FLOWS OF THE JOURNEY ARE, SOMETIMES, MORE POWERFUL THAN THE OUTCOME.
⭐YOUR VALUE DOES NOT = PRODUCTIVITY.
⭐NO ONE ELSE CAN DECIDE WHAT IS IMPORTANT AND WHAT MATTERS TO YOU, AND WHAT IT TAKES FOR YOU TO FEEL FULFILLED, CONGRUENT AND AUTHENTIC.

Brene Brown has highlighted and opened a platform to talk about shame and guilt - something that is often feared to be spoken about.

This the main difference between the two.

Appropriate guilt is well... appropriate and "normal" (whatever that means 😶). It allows us a space and experience to reflect what I did or did not do and how it impacted another- it creates a depth of understanding relationships.

Shame, however, is a belief that "something is wrong with me" - a heavy focus on the flawed sense of identity and worth which often encourages performative behaviour and reactions (often as a way to survive and feel safe again). It is hard to show up authentically and visibly from this belief - and yet, quite paradoxically, this is the antidote to this belief!!

More on this magical antidote next time! 🪴

What are you experiences of shame and guilt?

Brene Brown's Atlas of the Heart is a beautiful and insightful read ❤️🪴

I saw this quote and it stood out. I thought, well isn't that so true! Yet, oftentimes and perhaps due to the way we have been socialised, it's quite the opposite in that many people focus only on "loving you".
Leaving not much space for "loving me".

Boundaries aren't taught to us all too often. It's not the usual way we are often socialised, so it can feel unsafe at times to "love me" and not just "love you".

But if we just "love you" what happens to me? How do I "love me" too?

The answer.... you guessed it! Is practicing setting boundaries to bring more balance into how I "love you" and how I "love me" simultaneously.
Start small. Start tiny. Start "loving me" too.

Fawning is a reaction that gives the illusion of social safety, emotional closeness & even intimacy.

We all need and want to be wanted - to feel as if we are appropriately close with another. To feel as if we belong in this big wide world.

When this need is unmet, and continues to be unmet long term, it can feel really threatening for our systems, so we make ourselves needed by people-pleasing, overaccommodating, saying "yes" when we actually want to say "no", neglecting ourselves to place hyperfocus on the other to feel this illusion of being "wanted"

"Authenticity" - the courage to be yourself, even if it means some people may not like you, that's normal and okay.

So, I guess - authenticity is also having the courage to be disliked too 🪴

"When a dog lies in the sun, I imagine it does it without guilt because as far as I can tell, dogs seem more in tune with their own needs." _ Matt Haig

I think our modern day mindset (and perhaps obsession) with pace and productivity leads to many treating rest like a guilty sin 🫢 rather than a necessity for human living. Rest is confused with laziness - we need to rethink this.

Rest isn't a priority in how we spend our days - yet it should be?
- Do you prioritize rest? Or do you not?
- How does it impact you?
- What is your narrative around REST?

As the days fly by and we find ourselves in May already - let's check in to see how and where we are spending our time and energy, what our focus is and how to redirect if we've drifted off course (because - life happens!) or perhaps our focus has changed. Let's also check-in with who our people are, who can and do we connect with? Who can we reach out to for support or celebration?

Not having had space or feeling safe enough to share your own pain makes it very hard to know how to hold this kind of space for others.

So, during interactions in such relationships, it may look like being overly positive, "fixing" and "corrective listening" which can have an impact of being really invalidating.

What are your thoughts and experiences? Has it had an impact on your current "adult" relationships?

Sometimes, "today" is all we need to focus on.
Sometimes, "today" is all the space we have to place focus, awareness, and energy on.
Sometimes, "today" is enough.

How do you choose to honour yourself today? ✨🪴
