Today we would like to introduce Martin Heere, our Business Analyst. 👋

The first question we asked: What do you love about being a Business Analyst at SurePay?
His response: "I love the diversity this role gives me at SurePay. I'm in the Product Management team so I'm at the forefront of every new innovation we undertake. My primary objective is to verify the feasibility of an idea or a feature, and to cut these features down into smaller digestible requirements for the teams. Sometimes this means delivering a very structured analysis, and other times it means talking with customers about their pains and collaborating on a potential solution."

"We're not a large corporation so there are many gaps to fill. For example, apart from typical BA tasks, I find myself investigating API's for potential partnerships, creating wireframes, UX flows or even designing whole new API's to be able to bring my message across to colleagues or customers. For one of our projects I even had to learn how to create pull requests and resolve merge conflicts in Github, which would be a very atypical thing to learn as a BA in a larger corporate environment."

Next we asked him: If you could choose to be someone else for a day, who would you choose and why?
He answered: "I'd love to be a female pro surfer like Maya Gabeira for one day. She once set the Guinness World Record for surfing the largest waveI like surfing but I'm not quite good at it. It would be awesome to be able to surf big waves for one day like a pro. Another reason I chose her is that it would be quite funny and perhaps confronting to experience the world as an attractive woman for one day."

Another question was: What is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
His response: "My most memorable moments are the lunch breaks at SurePay. We often go for a nice walk with everyone who's in the office, and afterwards we sit down and discuss all the worldly problems with respect for each other's opinions and a lot of humour."

Lastly, we asked him: What makes SurePay, SurePay?
He answered: ''Our product and the people! I think we have an amazing ambition, which is preventing fraud for the everyday consumer and we're doing a great job at that. I'm super proud our (once) tiny product was first noticed and copied to the UK, and now it's the basis of new regulation that will make instant payments more safe across the whole EU! Next to that, I love the diversity and drive of my colleagues, which also motivates me to be the best version of myself. The impact we're making is incredible with such a limited number of colleagues.''

Meet Lotte Ploeg, our Marketing Officer 👋

We asked her: what do you love about being a Marketing Officer?
Her response:
"At SurePay, everyone is very open to new ideas; as long as you have a conceived plan, you get the chance to execute it. This also means constantly looking back at what works and what doesn't, and adjusting yourself accordingly next time.

The job basically involves everything that has to do with marketing a product. Doing this for several countries, with different teams, makes the work really varied."

Next we asked her: if you could choose to be someone else for a day, who would you choose and why? She answered: "Let's start with the fact that I have absolutely no rhythm sense nor can I sing, which is why I would choose to be a famous DJ or singer, like Rüfüs Du Sol or Dua Lipa. Bringing people together who can enjoy your music together, gives all present a magical feeling."

Another important question we asked: what is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay? Her response: "I really enjoyed the karaoke nights we have had in Café Ome Willem and the Duke of Tokyo. I think it's nice to see everyone singing along, and it really doesn't matter if you can sing or not. Although, on a night like that you often think it sounds good, until you see the videos the next day haha."

Lastly, we asked: what makes SurePay, SurePay?
"I think it’s pretty cool that we work with many different people and nationalities towards a common goal: preventing fraud and incorrect payments in several countries. But apart from work, there is also a lot of mutual attention to the personal aspects. Everyone can be themselves and is looking out for each other. There really is a good balance between work and kidding around. Although, on Friday afternoons it's often the latter.''

Today we would like to introduce Robin Driessen, our People & Culture Manager. 👋

We asked her: What do you love about being a People & Culture Manager?
‘’I love finding ways to make our workplace better for everyone. Whether it's empowering our team leaders to become even better managers, improving our internal communication or providing more learning opportunities for our employees, I enjoy creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Plus, I love that every day brings something different and that we have such a diverse team with people from all sorts of backgrounds.’’

Next to that, we asked her who she would choose if she could be someone else for a day. Her response: ''I would love to go back in time and be Agatha Christie, the murder mystery novelist. I'm a huge fan of her murder mysteries, so it would be exciting to step into the shoes of such a prolific writer and experience the writing process, come up with intricate plots and tap into her creativity and imagination.’’

When we asked her: What is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
She replied with: ‘’It’s hard to pick one moment; I really enjoy our Friday afternoon drinks where we can get to know each other better on a personal level and close off the week with some drinks and banter. Next to that, seeing the whole company come together at the Quarterly meeting in September to celebrate wins and look ahead to the next quarter was also fun and memorable!’’

Lastly, we asked her: What makes SurePay, SurePay?
Her response: ‘’The people and culture of course! 😉 In 2021, I worked for SurePay in the Business Operations team as part of a traineeship programme, and back then I already experienced that SurePay is an awesome company with smart and dedicated colleagues. No surprise that I came back!’’

Today we would like to introduce Michael Hülsiggensen, our Head of DACH Market 👋 .

We asked him: What do you love about being a Head of DACH Market?
His response: ''There are many things. I have contact with many people from different sectors with diverse backgrounds and requirements. The focus is currently on the banking market and there is a lot going on there for us.''

Next we asked: If you could choose to be someone else for a day, who would you choose and why?
He responded: ''That's a tough question, actually I don't want to swap at all and I feel comfortable. But learning to better understand another person's way of thinking and acting and their motivation would of course interest me. And as a prominent example I would choose the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz or his predecessor Angela Merkel.''

We then asked: What is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
His response: ''That was certainly at the beginning of my employment with SurePay, about 2 years ago. The welcome from all the team members but also from the board was so great, open and sympathetic. It was impressive (although I was able to change the average age of the company upwards noticeably). The interest and curiosity to get to know and understand the DACH market better through me was incredibly high. And all that in a sympathetic manner and with a lot of energy and joy. The whole team is just great. ''

Lastly, we asked: What makes SurePay, SurePay?
He responded: ''I have already described this before. There are great, likeable and clever people working at SurePay, who together have brought probably the best solution for the "Confirmation of Payee" to the market and continue to develop it further and all with fun, joy and great commitment. It is a pleasure to be part of this team!''

Today, we would like to introduce Bridget (Britt) Meijer, our Business Development Manager New Markets. 👋

We asked her: what do you love about being a Business Development Manager New Markets?
Her response: ''What I love about working as a Manager New Markets: Investigate, validate and analyse customers' problems and how we can solve these problems with our European IBAN-Name Check solution. Also, to learn and know about how the payments landscape is changing in terms of rules, both the domestic and regional regulations, and to adapt our solution to help our existing and new customers to protect their customers against fraud and friction.''

Next we asked her: If you could choose to be someone else for a day, who would you choose and why?
She didn't have to think twice and said: ''Mick Jagger. I would love to move like Jagger and feel how it is being on stage as a front man/woman for a crowd of 80.000 people. Next to that, he is a genius businessman.''

Another question we asked her: what is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
Her response: ''This is difficult because there is not one moment, there are many moments. First that comes to mind are all the great team events SurePay organises, Like a
Padel clinic, a silent disco and our memorable karaoke nights. Also the moments on stage at events to tell people about our purpose and vision.''

Lastly, we asked: What makes SurePay, SurePay?
Her response: ''The people at SurePay and our core values. The purpose we have as a company, the drive we all have at SurePay to solve our customers problems in reducing fraud and friction in payments. “

Today we would like to introduce Santosh Kotkar, our Product Owner. 👋

We asked Santosh: what do you love about being a Product Owner?
His response: ‘’Working in an agile and iterative development environment as a Product Owner provides me with valuable opportunities where I can gather feedback, assess the impact of changes, and consistently enhance our product/services by leveraging real-world usage and data. At SurePay, collaboration is a central aspect of our work. My team closely collaborates with various cross-functional & IT teams, fostering a diverse range of perspectives.

If he could choose to be someone else for a day he would love to switch places with Mahendra Singh Dhoni for a day. His explanation: ''This could be an exciting and intriguing experience, considering his remarkable leadership skills and the qualities he embodies. As Dhoni, you could have the opportunity to navigate high-pressure situations with a calm and composed demeanour, make crucial decisions, empower and trust your team members, lead by example, leading from behind, communicate effectively, and demonstrate resilience and a positive attitude."

Next to that we asked him: what is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
His response: ''There have been numerous instances where we experienced great enjoyment while working together. Whether it was collaborating on incident resolutions, engaging in constructive discussions during monthly leadership meetings, or participating in team activities like a Cricket Clinic at VRA Cricket Amsterdam or sailing ship with team at Marina Stellandam.

Lastly, we asked him: what makes SurePay, SurePay?
His response: ''SurePay is a company dedicated to the mission of enhancing the security of online payments. Guided by its core values of caring, collaboration, forward-thinking, and responsibility, SurePay actively works towards achieving this objective.

Today we would like to introduce Ryan Shepherd, our Lead Developer. 👋

We asked Ryan: what do you love about being a Lead Developer?
His response: ''Software development is part science and part art. You can earn a degree in Computer Science, but the art of what we do comes like all art - through suffering. I am kidding of course, mostly, but being a lead is an honour. It means your peers trust you, relying on your experience and lessons learned through both successes and failures, to guide the team to build something both robust and elegant.''

Ryan responded to the question: If you could choose to be someone else for a day, who would you choose? with: ''Sorry to take the easy way out, but I wouldn't trade lives with anyone, not even for a day. Have you ever wished you could read a book or watch a series again for the first time, so everything is new and fresh and exciting? Imagine getting to experience the Netherlands for the first time - this is where I am at now, and it is wonderful.''

Next to that we asked him: what is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
His response: ''Some company activities come to mind where we all went out and had nice food, but the one that made the biggest impression on me was when we stayed in the office and all brought a dish from our native country for the Christmas pot-luck. The incredible variety was a beautiful (and delicious) reminder that SurePay team members come from all over the world.''

Lastly, we asked him: what makes SurePay, SurePay?
''That there is an official answer to this question (the SurePay Values of "we care", "build together", "think forward", and "be responsible") is a very good thing, because it means what makes SurePay, SurePay is not an accident. Great company culture is something that takes effort to maintain and cultivate. The SurePay Values are easy to see in action every day. In fact, purely from observation, I would add a fifth if I could: "quality". I have never seen a single corner cut here, ever.''

We asked her what she loves most about her role.
Her response: ''My role at SurePay empowers me to contribute significantly to upholding security best practices and standards, thereby maximising our commitment to security."

Next to that we asked her: If you could choose to be someone else for a day, who would you choose and why?
Her response: ''I would love to be Emma Watson for a day. Like her most famous character "Hermione Granger", she is an avid bookworm in real life. She is an advocate of human rights and is also an educationist and a climate change activist. She inspires me, and I believe it would be intriguing to spend a day in her shoes.''

Her most memorable moment thus far at SurePay was when she participated in the Walking Bingo challenge. She had so much fun and loved the Slack channel where everyone shared gorgeous images.

Meet the team! 👋

Today we would like to introduce Ismail Kuyu, our Principal Software Engineer.

Our first question for him was: what do you love about being a Principal Software Engineer?
His response: "Truly the level of impact I can have on the business. I am responsible for working on some of the most critical technical parts and initiatives in the company, and I have the opportunity to make a real difference in the success of the organisation."

If Ismail could choose to be someone else for a day he would choose: "World's Best Boss", Michael Scott from the Office. It may be quite painful though, living all the cringe-worthiness for a full 24 hours."

Next to that we asked him: What makes SurePay, SurePay?
His response: "Having quite a flat hierarchy and trust amongst the colleagues. Here, everyone is heard if they have a good idea / better solution / clever design."

Lastly, we asked him: what is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay?
His response: ''Right after the earthquake in Turkey, my colleagues reached out to me to share my pain. We worked collaboratively to make the donations to Turkey accurate by providing coverage for well-known Turkish IBANs. I'll be grateful for that for my whole life."

Today we would like to introduce Jasper Wolfs MSc, our Product Manager.

We asked him: What do you love about being a Product Manager? His response: "Product Management is a dynamic role where you are a Linking-pin between many functions and departments. I really love it when we create a product together with the SurePay team that customers appreciate and love.

As Product manager you echo the customer's voice within the company and make sure that you built a valuable product for the client. The whole product creation process: from product concept, to solution to a product market fit gives me a lot of energy and makes me happy."

If he could choose to be someone else for a day, he would choose Frenkie de Jong. Why?
Because he always wanted to be a professional football player. In his own words: ''Frenkie lives and works in Barcelona, which is the most livable city in Europe in my view. And he is at the top of his league at the moment."

Next to that we asked: What is your most memorable moment thus far at SurePay? ''I like Mondays when we work at the office with the product team. For me the most memorable moment has been the IBAN-Name Check portal go-live. This was really a cross-team (and company effort) and so far our clients are really committed to using the product."

Lastly, we asked him What makes SurePay, SurePay?
His response: ''The extremely human centric culture and the genuine interest that colleagues have and show towards each other. I always feel comfortable in the SurePay working environment, which is very nice."
