Melissa van Melle is offering lessons in Hatha Yoga and Yin Yoga and Mindfulness for the education field 🪷 Living in Voorburg, but life is a journey.

The bodhichitta practices are ways for us to sow the seeds of well being. Particularly powerful are the aspiration practices of the four limitless heart qualities: loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Mijn achtergrond is Christelijk, Nederlands Hervormd of Protestants.

Who are we? There is some great spirit that brought you into this human life and that carries you through it. A wise understanding is to go inside and touch that place of your own true nature and awaken it, remember it through you.
Letting go means in fact (from the Sanskrit):
Let it Be.

After listening for more than 12 years to my much beloved teacher Tara Brach, I finally attended a live session, yesterday evening at 6 pm. It was very special to be part of the Satsang (with so many people from all around the world) and to share "the living room" of Tara, to which I have been looking at on different screens, all these years.... The talk and short meditations or reflections were about Inner Trust. And why this has so much to do with the heart qualities we are born with: the innate goodness and wisdom within us.

Burnout isn’t just about overwork… it’s about disconnection.
From your body.
From your truth.
From the version of you that’s been quietly waiting to feel safe enough to be seen.
You don’t need another productivity hack.
You need rest.
You need repair.
You need to come home to yourself.
Your body is ready.
Your truth is safe.
Your healing begins here.

Not A One, by Mark Nepo

A funny thing happened on my way
to being awake. I outgrew all my masks.
Not a one fit. Not the one I called my
past. Not the one I called my dream.
Not the one I wore when sad. Or the
one I wore when trying to be happy.

I saved them all like favourite shirts
I thought would fit when I became
myself again. But that was a mask, too.

Then, just the other day, I was more
present than lost, and had to put down
the mask I called my story.

And today, a gust of light filled my face.
I felt it on my skin and in my soul.
Now, anything is possible.

Inspired by the meditation with a poem, this morning at the online sangha of 30NOW with Erik van den Brink, who translated this poem into Dutch.

"This is your own time. This spot where you sit is your own spot. It is on this very spot and in this very moment that you can become enlightened. You don't have to sit beneath a special tree in a distant land. Practice like this for a few months, and you will begin to know a profound and renewing delight."

The Midway as a Heart Practice

The protection of the heart
to not being shattered
by the thousand sorrows
and the thousands joys.
To be in the middle of all
the sounds, sights, smells,
feelings and thoughts.

It is called the practice of Equanimity,
maybe the most difficult but also
most liberating Brahmavihara,
the seed in the heart,
the quality of the heart
and the refuge amidst all.

Live in joy, in love,
even among those who hate.

Live in joy, in health,
even among the afflicted.

Live in joy, in peace,
even among the troubled.

Look within, be still.
Free from fear and attachment,
know the sweet joy of the way.

Life is a garden,
not a road

we enter and exit
through the same gate

wandering,
where we go matters less
than what we notice
