Hi, I'm Sam. In 2016 I graduated from the Midwifery Academy in Maastricht and since then I have been working as a midwife in Utrecht. This is also where I met my husband. In August we became parents of our son Gus. That sweet little guy is the main reason for us to exchange the busy city for a place with more nature in the immediate vicinity. From April we will live in this beautiful area and De Bakermat will be my new workplace!
In my spare time I like to climb and cycle a lot. In my work I enjoy the combination of the medical and the social. I really enjoy meeting many different people, listening to their preferences and meet them to the best of my ability. Naturally, the most beautiful thing of all for me is to assist at the birth of a child and see again and again what the immense strength of a woman can be!
I'm really looking forward to starting at De Bakermat and meeting you!

Dear Expectant Parent(s),
I would like to introduce myself: I'm Yasmina, 21 years old, residing in Nijmegen. Last September, I began my studies in midwifery at the Midwifery Academy in Amsterdam, which I attend with great enthusiasm.
My first experience in midwifery is (almost) upon me at the De Bakermat midwifery practice. I am eagerly looking forward to experiencing this beautiful profession in practice!
With full enthusiasm, I'd like to inform you that you might encounter me during appointments, the birth or postnatal visits in the first two weeks of February 2024. If you would prefer not to have a student present during any of these moments, please feel free to inform the midwife.

Hi ladies (and partners)!
My name is Lieneke van Dijke - Zwankhuizen, midwifery student. I am studying at the Midwifery Academy of Amsterdam. From November 8 to January 13, I am doing an internship at De Bakermat.
About myself: I am 29 years old, married and live in Ede. I have a 2-year-old daughter and a 6-month-old son, so I'm never bored!
I started my midwifery training because I really like to support people personally and have a passion for the medical side of the profession. I find it valuable to do something for women at this special stage in their lives.
Basically, I participate in all the activities of the midwife. Should you not be comfortable with my presence, you can always mention it.
I am looking forward to working at De Bakermat and meeting you!

A word of goodbye from our Swedish student Evelin, it was great to have you Evelin!

My name is Evelin, and I'm a midwifery student from Sweden in my final semester of training. I've had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program here in the Netherlands to learn about how midwives work in this country. I've gained a wealth of knowledge and have been truly inspired by all of you. There are both similarities and differences in your work and healthcare system compared to Sweden. I've even had the chance to witness a home birth, which was absolutely fantastic. I'm fascinated by your emphasis on the physiological aspects of childbirth and your clinical expertise. In Sweden, we have very few home births, with the majority taking place in hospitals. However, we actively strive to maintain the natural process and minimize interventions. In this regard, the Netherlands is more advanced.

During my time here, I've also immersed myself in your culture. I've cycled a lot (without a helmet :)), enjoyed plenty of bread, and sipped tea. I'm confident that this won't be my last visit to the Netherlands. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the staff in Wageningen, Bennekome, and Ede whom I've had the pleasure of meeting. You've taken great care of me.

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening
My name is Larissa Dekker, I am 21 years old and I live in Barneveld.
As a vio (midwife in training) I am doing an internship at De Bakermat from September 4 to October 1.
I am now in my third year of training and last year I did an internship at a practice in Amsterdam.
I already have an MBO nursing diploma in my pocket. This gives me experience in health care (think of measuring blood pressure, taking a finger prick or anamnesis).
I assist in all activities of the midwife, if the pregnant woman agrees. This is for example during the consultation hour, maternity visits or during delivery.
I am very much looking forward to this instructive internship. Thank you in advance for your openness.

Hi everybody!

My name is Anne Hoogstede and I’m from Wageningen. I have been living in Nijmegen for 5 years now, where I’m studying ‘Geneeskunde’.

I am a doctor in training and at this moment I’m following an internship at the department of gynecology in CWZ, Nijmegen. I will be watching along with Aafke on Friday 18th of august, to get a better picture of the primary obstetrics care in the Netherlands.

Hai everyone,
My name is Sterre van Erd, i’m 18 years old and just started my bachelor in midwifery.

Ever since I was little, I thought pregnancy and midwifery were the most interesting things ever. So naturally, when I had to pick something to pursue after high school, I picked midwifery. June 12th – July 16th I will be starting my second internship at the Bakermat in Wageningen. During these weeks you may encounter me at consults, during your labor or in your maternity bed.
