Dear Family, Dear Children, Dear Friends,
It is an honour to us to say a few words at this last farewell for our dear friend and collegue Mohammed Daniel O’James.
I am doing this on behalf o of the Dutch society Friends of the African Dream. It is a benevolent foundation, that wants to support the less privileged people in Sierra Leone. What is the African Dream? It is a better future and employment for youngsters, restore sight for the blind, support training for professionals in Health Care.
Daniel was a real Friend of the African Dream.
He was working with the FAD hand in hand since 2008; he offered opportunities for training in GTZ with enthusiasm.
From the very beginning he was enthusiastic and cooperative. In the last 13 years our Foundation was able to train over 200 students as masons, nurses, welders, hairdressers, taylors and elkectricians.
Daniel was very dedicated to the work of our Foundation. Together with Rev. James Davies and Rev. AKK they formed a partnership in Sierra Leone for FAD. Whenever we arrived in Sierra, he came to the airport. He joined us on so many ttrips into the bush, always laughing and joking. But most of all he was really interested in our well being. Everytime we met, he used to ask: how is your family, how is your wife, how are the kids. And this were not just routine questions, they were questions straight from his heart. Daniel alway showed a deep interest in the well being of his friends. He was honest, a man who did not speak before he had been a careful listener.
When Daniel became sick and admitted to the Hospital, we, in The Netherlands, were daily informed by AKK and Rev. James about his condition. And one day the message came: Daniel has passed away. We were deeply sad, because FAD means also Family of the African Dream and we lost a dear family member. We will miss him for his dedication, his humour, his wisdom.
Daniel, thanks so much for all you did for us, May you Rest in Peace.
