NEFERTITI OFFERT AAN ATON | Deze steen met een afbeelding van koningin Nefertiti zie je in onze tentoonstelling ‘Koninginnen van de Nijl’. Nefertiti offert aan de zonnegod Aton. Blijkbaar had ze de positie om zelfstandig de goden aan te spreken. Dat is heel uitzonderlijk, want doorgaans was deze taak slechts voorbehouden aan de farao. De bouwsteen (41,5 cm. breed) komt uit een tempel in Karnak en stamt uit de vroege regeringsjaren van farao Amonhotep IV, die zich later Achnaton zou gaan noemen. rmo.nl/koninginnen

Faro Achnaton met op zijn schoot lief kozend zijn dochter Meritaton

تمثال غير مكتمل لإخناتون مع ابنته

لهذا التمثال غير المكتمل المصنوع من الحجر الجيرى جودة فنية عالية. وقد عثر عليه فى ورشة نحات بتل العمارنة. وهو يمثل إخناتون وقد أجلس واحدة من بناته على ركبتيه، وربما كانت مريت-أتون.

ويجلس الملك على كرسى بلا ظهر لابساً حلة بكم قصير وتاج الاحتفالات الأزرق. وتدير الفتاة رأسها بحب ناحية والدها الذى يقبلها.

ويعد هذا التمثال تصوير ودى للحياة فى القصر ويبين الجانب الإنساني للفرعون الذى يصف نفسه بأنه هو الذى يعيش فى العدالة. وكان يريد أن يصور فى وضع إنساني وفى لحظة ود خالصة بين أب وطفلته.

Unfinished Statue of Akhenaten with His Daughter

This unfinished limestone statue is of high artistic quality. It was discovered in a sculptor's atelier, or workshop, at Tell el-Amarna. It depicts Akhenaten supporting on his knee one of his daughters, probably Meritaten.

The king sits on a stool wearing a short-sleeved tunic and the Blue Crown of ceremonies. The girl turns her head affectionately toward her father who is kissing her.

It is an intimate depiction of life at the palace and shows the humanity of the pharaoh who described himself as "the one living in justice." He intended to be portrayed in a human manner and at a sincerely affectionate moment between father and child
