Have you ever heard of or experienced yoni heat therapy of the steaming or smoke variety? It is extremely healing especially for deficient and cold conditions and is very traditional and common practice in South Korea.

These images show a preparation for a smoking treatment using moxa. Steam treatment with specific herbs are also very common and a wonderfully healing practice especially after childbirth.

Ok, you may find this uncomfortable, but just remember, you’re on my page for the most powerful health tips, not fluff.

They may not be the easiest, or the most popular, but they are the most potent, I promise.

One part of the modern diet that is missing, is removing organ meats.

Muscle meats are comparatively nutrient poor compared to organ meats like liver, heart, and brains.

The most commonly consumed organs come from cows, pigs, lambs, goats, chickens and ducks.

Every traditional society at organ meats, because they pack with nutrients like no other food on earth.

What Are the Different Types?
The most common types of organ meat include:
• Liver: Liver is the detox organ. It’s also the nutritional powerhouse of organ meats and sometimes referred to as “nature’s multivitamin.”
• Tongue: Tongue is actually more of a muscle. It’s a tender and tasty cut of meat due to its high fat content.
• Heart: The role of the heart is to pump blood around the body. It may not look edible, but it’s actually lean and tasty.
• Kidneys: Like humans, mammals have two kidneys. Their role is to filter waste and toxins out of the blood.
• Brain: Brain is considered a delicacy in many cultures, and it’s a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids.

• Iron: contains heme iron, which is highly bioavailable, so it’s better absorbed by the body than non-heme iron from plant foods

• Great source of choline: Organ meats are among the world’s best sources of choline, which is an essential nutrient for the human brain
• Cheaper and reduced waste: Organ meats are not a popular cut of meat that are often wasted!

Critical Vitamin A

Liver is an important source of retinol, which is pre-formed vitamin A. Just three ounces of beef liver contains 26,973 IU of vitamin A, while pork liver and chicken liver contain 15,306 IU and 11,335 IU, respectively.

If you aren’t eating cod liver oil, you’ll probably want to eat liver a couple times a week to make sure you’re getting enough vitamin A.

Let’s put our heads together for organ meat ideas, how did your grandparents add organ meats to their diet?

We need to revive this treasured human way of eating.

Raising kids is difficult, really difficult.

Yet, parents seldom get the time to consider the toll raising their little ones takes on their own health.

I see the signs in the dental chair all too often. Exhausted parents tell me that their health has come second as they now face serious dental and other health issues.

The problem is, with the business of early childhood parenting, the issues get swept under the rug. Later down the track, exhausted Moms can be battling a chronic illness because they haven’t been able to take the time to look after themselves.

1) Sleep deprivation is always going to happen during parenting, but if there is an underlying breathing issue then gestational sleep apnea creates a further burden on the maternal brain. If you sleep badly in the opportunities you get to rest during the newborn sleep crush, you’re on a crash course for a sleep disorder. Fixing breathing, BEFORE pregnancy, and mindful breathing exercises during pregnancy may help to stop serious issues.

2) Nutrient deficiency is far more common in pregnancy than we give credit for. Traditional societies would make sure that an expecting couple ate a diet rich in fat soluble vitamins 6-12 months BEFORE conceiving. Preconception nutrition practice is far undervalued in our society today.

3) Breastfeeding deficiencies transfer to the child, but also deplete the Mother’s body. Today we’re reconnecting with breastfeeding which is wonderful, but proper support is critical if Mom is going feed for extended periods. Breastmilk doesn’t appear out of thin air.

4) Underlying health issues, like gut disorders, or auto-immune issues are going to possibly be exacerbated as the body creates more cell turn over to support a fetus.

Each of these issues show up in symptoms we see in the mouth. Decayed teeth, bleeding gums, and unrestful sleep are first in line.

Have you experienced dental or health issues during or after pregnancy? I’m seeing this all the time in parents today, I think we need to talk about it more because our kids’ health depend on healthy parents.

Let’s discuss in the comments below.

Did you know...

The Breastmilk Microbiome
Human breastmilk is teeming with bacteria. One of the recently appreciated benefits of breastmilk are that the mother directly passes her gut microbes to the child.

The breastmilk microbiome is packaged to design the newborns oral-gut and entire microbiome.

When I see dental issues in children today, I now think back to issues they may have experienced in the womb.

During pregnancy, the spike in progesterone increases gut permeability. Leaky gut is known for its link to disease. But pregnancy seems to induce a degree of leaky gut. Transporting gut bacteria to the mother’s blood stream is necessary. From here they travel in special immune system packages to the mammary gland.

The milk microbiome is extremely diverse. The mother’s body orchestrates the packaging of microbes in breastmilk. It also profoundly changes during lactation.

The reality is that parents pass on their own microbial and immune legacy to our children.

In the mother, special immune cells carry microbes from the gut to the mammary glands. They are like a taskforce that handpick the microbes that will begin the ‘discussion’ with the newborn child’s mouth.

During the first few months of life, the newborn oral and gut microbiome are uncolonized from the outside world.

The oral microbiome is the first to be colonized, which then seeds the gut microbiome. Later these microbes become the child’s immune system.

Breastmilk provides the blueprint of microbes that will impression a child’s immune system.

Research is now linking changes in the newborn microbiome to allergies, obesity and type II diabetes.

If there is one thing I’m talking to parents about these days, is the profound impact your own health has on your childs health.

A family share an entire microbiome and with it, a strong immune system, or a susceptibility to sickness.

A mother’s microbiome critically shapes the oral flora of a newborn. One of your first priorities for healthy kids is to care for the gut microbiome.

Did you notice gut issues during pregnancy? What about child dental issues?

'ARTICLE SUMMARY
• Sulfate synthesis in the skin captures the sun’s energy. Adequate sunlight exposure to both the skin and the eyes is vital to our long-term health.
• Among other functions, sulfate supports blood vessel health, the body’s electrical supply and the delivery system for important molecules such as cholesterol, vitamin D, dopamine and melatonin.
• Evidence indicates that sunlight protects against cancer, heart disease, hypertension and bone fractures.
• The benefits of sunlight exposure are about much more than vitamin D.
• Many studies show that vitamin D supplementation cannot reproduce sunlight’s health benefits. Moreover, excessive vitamin D supplementation can aggravate systemic sulfate deficiency, which will drive calcium buildup in the arteries.
• Both sunscreen and glyphosate interfere with synthesis and production of melanin—the body’s natural mechanism of sun protection. Aluminum in sunscreen disrupts sulfate synthesis. These disruptions may explain why melanoma prevalence has steadily risen in tandem with the increased use of higher sun-protection-factor sunscreens over the past two decades.'

In spite of what you’ve read, the sun doesn’t cause melanoma, in fact, it’s actually beneficial for you, as many studies have indicated.

The gut and psychology connection is very clear. Recent studies show that antibiotic use in the first couple years can adversely affect neurocognitive outcomes later in life.

'While there are certainly many things that influence a child’s behavior, the collective body of research in this area suggests that the gut microbiota may play an important role. Cultivating a healthy gut flora for your child may not only improve his or her behavior in the short term, but will also reduce the chance of mental health issues later in life.'

Kids out of control? New evidence suggests that a disrupted gut microbiome could be partly responsible for unruly behavior in children. Read on to learn how the brain develops, the role of the gut in this process, and how bad temperament in early childhood might be associated with gut dysbiosis.
