Based on the most recent research - where you can you shine red/near infrared light on your scalp and initiate postive responses?

The red dots on the image demonstrate the current research in humans and animals.

Very positive results in pathologies and non-pathological brains. Wavelength, intensity and placement seem to be important for the recorded results.

The brilliant thing is that there are many positive results, in many different pathological conditions indicating that the red/infrared light is having a profound positive effect on brain health in general. This is backed up by the limited, but positive, studies on otherwise health human brains.

Most of us never touch the ground anymore, or at least not enough. Especially in Norway—half the year, the earth is frozen or under boots. In summer we walk around in shoes, flip-flops or other footwear

Blue light at the wrong time can mess with your brain.
Modern life floods us with artificial light at night—TVs, phones, LEDs. But your brain evolved to expect darkness after sunset. Exposure to light at night suppresses melatonin, scrambles your circadian rhythm, and disrupts sleep, mood, and even brain structure. Studies show it increases the risk of depression, anxiety, and poor emotional regulation.

This paper is almost 10 years old and it stated that there was an immediate need to change our evening lighting.... Yet nothing has been done since.

Are near infrared from photobiomodulation (PBM) and infrared from sauna the same? Do they work the same?

Something I see very often is people confusing the two because they have the word infrared in them.

They are not the same and they are very far apart on the spectrum.

Near infrared from 800-1050nm and far infrared in sauna (usually from 5000nm) work differently and act on the body in the different manners.

They are both super healthy and can have positive benefits of inflammations, circulation and stress but their mechanisms by which they improve these aspects of your health are obtained via different pathways.

Utilizing only one means you are missing out on the benefits of the other one and vice versa so perhaps there is room for both??

🌟 How to choose? PBM for targeted fixes and help with mitochondrial function to help with repair and function. Sauna for detox, recovery and stressø resilience and reset. Different wavelengths, different vibes but both make you harder to kill.

Just remember that they are not the same.

Note: some saunas do have some mid and near infrared in them, but check with location as these aren't common.
