Gratitude is such a powerful tool. Living your life in gratitude is a choice that you can make every day. Reminding yourself of all the blessings you are fortunate enough to have in your life, that is a start of creating days filled with happiness. Sometimes it is difficult to see the blessings, when people are in a place of darkness and suffering, they sometime need the direction towards gratitude, to see the good things in life. Remember that you have the power to not only fill your own life with gratitude but the power to guide someone in the right direction when they are not able to themselves. We all have ups and downs, and we all need people that shows kindness and compassion. When meeting a stranger, something as simple as a smile and recognition can be enough to brighten that person day. You never know what the people you interact with every day is going through. Acts of anger is sometimes a cry for help, remember if you are in a state of balance, to show patience and love. Anger met with anger will for sure make more anger, but anger met with compassion, understanding and kindness can lead to a completely different reality.

โšก๐ŸŒž๐Ÿง˜โ€ Electricity aka. Energy aka. Prana ๐Ÿง˜โ€๐ŸŒžโšก (throwback video to 2021, when Sabins parents gifted us a solarsystem for Hagabrekka). You are already familiar with electricity as pretty much everything in modern life is depending on electricity. This is turning into a big problem when we are not using renewable resources to transform the energy to electricity which we can use to support our huge consumption. I think itโ€™s something most people take for granted as it seems like it is unlimited in the western world. At Hagabrekka we are relying on solar energy, our electricity is coming from panels transforming the energy from the sun and is stored in a upcycled lithium el car battery. An important part of permaculture, and the second principle is to catch and store energy, but energy is not limited only to electricity. We gather fire wood for heat, and we are drying and saving it for cold times, this is another way of storing energy. The food that we dry and store or preserve in other ways is another form of energy that our bodies will take advantage of at a later point. The seeds we harvest at the end of the life of a crop is again dried and stored, to be used again in the next season. My point is that energy comes in many forms, something that might make it easier to understand its place in yoga philosophy. There is a lot of talk about โ€˜pranaโ€™ in yoga, and in a very simple translation we can say that prana is energy. It is seen as the life force, something that we are taking into our body not only with the food we eat, but also the air we breathe, the movements of the mind; our thoughts, our emotions, we take in the energy in our surroundings, movement and use of our body, prana is in everything. Let us all try to be more mindful, more conscious about this, not only in the use of electricity, but how important it is that we are aware about what we eat, as it turns into our bodies, ensuring clean air for everyone to breathe, let your thoughts give you and other joy and happiness. You have the power to create happiness both for nature and yourself, remember we are one.

๐Ÿ’š The village of Flatdal ๐Ÿ’š This small village is the closest to our land, and we have seriously fallen in love. Not only in the beautiful valley, the views, the nature that is surrounding it, but the whole community and the people that makes this place so special. In spite of the unconventional plans we had for our place, not to mention our philosophy which is very far from the social norm, we were welcomed with so much love and openness that I was seriously shocked. I had braced myself for judgement and discontent (I know thatโ€™s pretty bad of me, I guess I stupidly let my previous experience, color my expectations ๐Ÿ™ˆ), but strangers, that now are close friends, met us with sincere care and support in any way they could. This was such an eye opener for me, not only regaining some of my faith in humankind, but a reminder for myself to work more on my own prejudice. If we all make an effort to make everyone on our path with openness and love, I am sure the world will be such a different place.

This yearโ€™s plan was to check out Manaslu circuit, which is a less known trekking route that meets with the Annapurna circuit, ending the route within the Annapurna sanctuary. Every year we try to do one new trek to see if we want to bring our guests there. Until now we really havenโ€™t found a route that beats Langtang in its authenticity, the heartwarming hospitality and the mind-blowing views, and being easier accessible then many routes as the highest sleeping point are around 3800 m it truly is the perfect trek. Unfortunately, we were not able to do Manaslu this year after all (we will try again next year), so we are excited to tell you that we will again be offering the Langtang valley trek in the spring season of 2026. I think we are meant to share the beauty of this area forever, I donโ€™t really know if it is possible to find anything that matches all that this trek offers. The families we stay with is like our own family at this point, and I feel that there is no trek as beautiful with the massive giants surrounding you as you move from subtropical climate into alpine, naked, rough mountain landscape. So, for anyone interested to join us next year, the 2026 trip is open for booking ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜ƒ We are offering either to join only the trekking part, or join us on the whole around Nepal journey where we venture to Pokhara, Bandipur and Chitwan as well. For the full program and to reserve your spot you can check out our webpage; https://wanderlustyoga.no/collections/yoga-retreats-around-the-world and if you would like more information and details send me a mail/message and I will send you our information brochure where you will know more about what to expect, altitude, preparations, culture, packing list, the different areas etc.

6 years of marriage and 8,5 years of life together today, thank you my love for teaching me more about life then I thought possible. We might be seperate today, but we will be together again soon ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ’š Only 5 more days until Sabin will come home to Hagabrekka โค๏ธ

So today I wanted to share a little story. Once upon a time, years ago, there was a girl growing up in a village in the far north. At the age of 18 she fell madly in love; the start of a love story that were to last many years. The love was consuming every single part of her existence, it was a crazy love for life; traveling, mountains, yoga, exploring and new adventures, a love that did not have space for any man. Her love story was filled with everything she had ever wanted; new places to see, new dreams created every day, mountains to conquer, oceans to explore, magical moments of falling in love with another part of mother nature that was yet to be discovered. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ Home ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ƒ Hagabrekka here I am! Only 6 months ago since we were here, but it feels like forever and yesterday at the same time ๐Ÿ˜‚ I had to return to Norway before Sabin this year due to a family emergency, it was with a very heavy heart I returned to Norway, not with the excitement that I normally have. But being back here in our land after some weeks in Norway, I feel lighter. I am starting to feel excited for these next months. We are creating an inside communal space with a fireplace as we have realized the last three years that the Norwegian summer can be pretty cold ๐Ÿ˜ Hopefully it will be finished in June as we are welcoming our first group of guests this year the 13th of June. We are very much looking forward to again welcome so many new friends and old friends to connect and be present together here at Hagabrekka โค We cannot wait to share, learn and grow together with all of you! Welcome to our home ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿฆ‚ Vrschikasana โ€“ Scorpion ๐Ÿฆ‚ Stillness. To be present in this very moment, thatโ€™s what I feel in this posture. The demand for concentration pulls me away from the โ€˜monkey mindโ€™ as its sometimes referred to in yoga. I know at least for myself that my mind is a pretty crazy, energetic monkey, jumping around doing lots of weird stuff. How to still the mind? How to take control (or really stop letting the thoughts control me)? How to let go of stress, repetitive thought pattern, all the negative stuff, and only decide to engage with positive, strengthening thoughts that do you good? This truly is my biggest challenge, even after so many years of practice I struggle to sit in stillness. So for me, many of the postures with a high demand for balance and concentration is a way for me to find stillness. It leads me to a deeper control (or release) when in the end of the session I start working with the mind in shavasana or towards meditation. What is your way of calming your mind or finding that moment of stillness?

The foundation of our idea and dream when starting Hagabrekka was to create a space where people can actually experience and live a sustainable lifestyle, with the opportunity to feel the connection to nature, our natural place of existence. Our aim is that this will create a more conscious way of living also when returning to daily life for our guests. Whether itโ€™s for a shorter retreat or our longer learning program, we hope that you will gain a different understanding of what sustainability and the environment are. From plant-based diet and the importance of nature as a resource for increased quality of life, yoga and mindfulness to permaculture, foraging in the wild, vegetable growing, reduction in daily consumption, recycling, value of energy (electricity), water usage, these are just a few examples of the many things we want to spread knowledge about. Remember that it all starts with you and me. Do you want to experience how it is to live sustainably immersed in nature? Welcome to know more about our free learning program; www.wanderland.no or check out upcoming retreats for a shorter stay: www.wanderlustyoga.no. We are also very excited to introduce a 130 hrs. course starting summer 2026, A deep Dive: yoga, nature and regenerative living.
