Food for thoughts💯
From time to time, I come across posts from my fellow yoga colleages, which are aimed at us ordinar people having their 40 hours week regular works.
Well, as I am both (yoga path and ordinar, not yoga related employee) it gives me right to speak up from my experience. I am with one foot in each world: with 100% position in a great company as an ordinar employee; also teaching yoga in my spare time after work, running yoga teacher trainings during weekends. This has been my path for many years.
What can I say to defend (I feel, like we need it) us choosing a path of regular work? That we contribute to a predictable, well functioning society, no doubt.
All of us (also yogis) like to live in a society with doctors, teachers, building companies, shops etc. functioning well, on time, to cover all our basic needs.
It takes us, ordinar employees 8 hours of work daily to make it happen, to pay our tax. Yes, we are not blind. We know that these 8 hours is time of our life we never get back. And for many-many of us (me included) it is not a waste! We enjoy our work, sense of making a difference, meeting real, good people, having a professional growth, respect, sense of well done job by the end of the day.
Also, securing a stable income and thus upbringing and education of our children. Having a regular job pays our bills and in times of crisis e.g.corona we have better chances than people who prefer a less secure, spiritual path only.
How strange, but I see more judgement from my fellow yogis who CHOSE their path, towards ordinar employees with safe jobs than other way around!🫶
