ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor

ECG247 Smart Heart Sensor ECG247 is a medically certified sensor for continuous and long-term monitoring of heart rhythm to detect heart rhythm disorders.

The product is affordable, easy to use and effective. The sensor provides feedback to the user in real time and immediate notification if possible heart rhythm disorders are detected. ECG data is uploaded directly to a secure cloud storage and is easily accessible for healthcare professionals. The sensor is currently used by GPs, cardiologists and private and public hospitals. The product is also available for self-testing and can be purchased online. ECG247 is developed and produced by the medical technology company Appsens AS. Together with Sørlandet Hospital HF, the University of Agder and a number of technology partners, AppSens has developed the innovative heart sensor ECG247. ECG247 is an advanced sensor where the electronics are reusable while the electrode is disposable. The electronics part of the sensor can therefore be reused for several tests or for several people. The sensor has advanced algorithms for automatic detection of all serious and common heart rhythm disorders. The software uses artificial intelligence to improve accuracy. The sensor has both high sensitivity and specificity, and is certified and CE-approved by DNV GL according to Medical Devices Directive class IIa.

ECG247 in the Tromsø Study!

The Tromsø Study, initiated in 1974 in response to the high cardiovascular disease mortality rates in Northern Norway, has since evolved into a series of seven studies conducted at 7-8 year intervals. The eighth Tromsø Study is scheduled for 2025-2026 and will involve 4,000 participants with elevated NT-proBNP levels. Participants will be randomized to atrial fibrillation screening using ECG247. Outcomes in the intervention group will be compared to those in the control group regarding stroke incidence and mortality over a six-year follow-up period.

For ECG247, it is a vote of confidence that another leading research community chooses to use Norwegian medical technology. ECG247 is also in use in the Norwegian national atrial fibrillation screening study NORSCREEN and in the Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT). The ECG247 is highly cost-effective and requires minimal personnel resources.

New trial published: ECG247 is highly suitable for evaluating heart rhythm disorders in athletes

Researchers from Bærum Hospital and St. Olavs Hospital, in collaboration with colleagues from Belgium and Australia, conducted a comparative study between ECG247 and implantable loop recorders. The study concluded that ECG247 is highly suitable for evaluating heart rhythm disorders in athletes, successfully detecting all arrhythmias identified by the loop recorders in the study participants.

This study represents another important clinical validation of ECG247. As a more cost-effective and user-friendly alternative to implantable loop recorders, ECG247 has the potential to facilitate faster patient evaluations and help reduce hospital waiting lists.
