Our Story
About me: I am from Oslo, but moved to London in 1990 to study contemporary dance. From 1993- 2017 I lived and worked in London, first as a dancer and later as a teacher in dance, Pilates and the GYROTONIC® method. My first comprehensive Pilates teacher training was in the Stott Pilates method, with Moira Stott in Toronto in 1999. In 2000 I also joined the equipment teacher training course with Pilates Off The Square, which was part of the Pilates Foundation UK, and am a member of the Pilates Foundation UK. I qualified as a GYROTONIC® method teacher in 2005. The master teachers I have studied with are Beatrize Pascual, Jan De Miranda, Leda Franklin and Cherie De Haven. For a full bio please see my website: audaasbo.com Pilates in Oslo: In September 2017 I moved back to Oslo, and in late April 2018 I gave birth to my daughter Frida. I have recently opened a small Pilates equipment and mat studio in Prinsens gate 3a, right in the heart of Oslo. For appointments and prices please check my website www.audaasbo.com or contact me on: info@audaasbo.com The Pilates method in a nutshell: The Pilates technique was first developed by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967). It is a movement and exercise system which aims to create a well balanced, strong and supple body. The technique improves posture and general wellbeing. It enhances our performance of day to day movements, and is widely used for sports specific training and for rehabilitation after injury and operations. Due to its adaptability it is suitable for all age groups and abilities, from professional dancers to the elderly. The GYROTONIC® method in a nutshell: The GYROTONIC® method has been developed over the last 30 (+) years by Julio Horvath, an ethnic Hungarian, professional dancer from Romania now based in USA. It combines elements of dance, yoga and Chinese medicine, but is ultimately its own profound movement and exercise system, which stimulates the body from inside out. Due to the adaptability of the equipment and the movement, the GYROTONIC® method is suitable for all age groups and abilities. It can be used to improve general well being, to challenge and improve general fitness, for rehabilitation as well as for sports specific training.
