🔬 Forensic Clues Hidden in Old Dental Fillings 🦷
With guidance from Simen E. Kopperud and Hanne Wellendorf from NIOM the two master’s students, Embla Victoria Eggum and Rebekka Rún Scheving, from Universitetet i Oslo (UiO) have explored how dental composites - materials used in tooth fillings - can help identify individuals in forensic cases.
By analyzing aging patterns and chemical signatures, their work at NIOM shows that even old dental restorations can reveal valuable forensic clues.
Their findings point to a promising intersection of dentistry and forensic science.
