En helhetlig tilnærming er avgjørende for håndteringen og omsorgen for den aldrende befolkningen.

I det felles prosjektet mellom Osteopathic International Alliance og WHO i 2020 som kartla osteopatyrket, ble det funnet at rundt 15 % av alle pasienter som ble behandlet av osteopater var voksne i alderen 65 år og eldre.

Den osteopatiske tilnærmingen har som mål om å møte de sammensatte behovene og tilby individuell tilpasset behandling for den eldre befolkningen – ofte sammen med andre helsepersonell.
