After more than 20 years of basic research on homeopathy, Stephan Baumgartner, Ph.D. (and one of Europe's top scientists in environmental physics) has come to the conclusion that the results of his research group's experiments with homeopathy cannot be reconciled with the hypothesis that homeopathic preparations are pure placebos.

In an extensive, blinded, and randomized series of experiments, they have repeatedly found clear empirical evidence for specific biological effects of even highly diluted homeopathic potencies.

In the coming years, the team's research will focus on elucidating the active principle of homeopathic preparations in order to answer the question of how the observed effects of homeopathy can be explained.

Homeopaths long ago recognized that each person expresses ailments in ways that are idiosyncratic, or unique, to them.

Take a cough as an example... you and your husband and a coworker may all have what is known as ‘a cough.' But in your case, the cough is worse when talking, laughing, eating, lying on your left side and going from a warm room into cold air. You are also very thirsty for cold drinks. With your husband, his cough is particularly worse in a warm room, better in cool, open air, and worse in the evening and when lying down. He is also completely thirstless. Your coworker - well, she seems to be most troubled by her cough at 3:00AM. She also complains of small stitching pains in her chest when coughing and is most comfortable when leaning forward to cough.

In homeopathy we use individualized treatments by recommending remedies that are chosen to match the unique symptoms expressed by the patient. Makes sense, right?
