Moving with the seasons.

~ Ayurveda is based on the idea that all energy in the natural world is made up of five elements.

In ayurvedic medicine, the autumn months of the year are dominated by Vata Dosha - the mind-body element that is associated with air and space.

Vata dosha has the qualities of dryness, cooling, lightness, and movement.

When this element is out of balance (which is most at risk of occurring during the autumn and early winter months), we can have a tendency to experience increased dryness of the skin and bowels, feel dehydrated, have excessive bloating and experience insomnia and anxiety.

By supporting ourselves with a stable, gentle, and grounding yoga practice, we can counter the effects of the vata season. This can be done by including long-held sun salutations, standing asanas, side bending asanas, long savasanas, yoga nidras, and a regular meditation practice - in order to give ourselves stability and calmness through the autumn and early winter season ✨️
