Different, Not Less – Embracing Every Child 💙✨

This Autism Awareness Day, let’s celebrate the unique strengths of every child on the spectrum. Acknowledging differences is the first step toward true inclusion, and love is what makes every child shine.

Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and embraced for who they are. Let’s create a world where neurodiversity is celebrated, not just accepted.

Has your child recently received a prescription for glasses?

Embrace this opportunity for early intervention, as neglecting to wear them can profoundly affect their visual growth. Without these crucial lenses, they may develop amblyopia (lazy eye), where one eye/ both eye fails to develop properly, and struggle with binocular vision, hindering their ability to see cohesively. This often leads to clumsy eye-hand coordination, impacting their ability to write, play, and engage in daily activities. Unaddressed vision issues can also stifle academic progress, cause eye strain, and result in persistent headaches, potentially leading to long-term vision complications.

Act now to ensure your child wears their glasses. Delaying until they are older is less effective. Embracing glasses at a young age nurtures their visual development and safeguards their future sight.

🌟 Embracing Autism: A Journey of Acceptance and Awareness 🌟

As a vision therapy clinic, we've had the privilege of working with individuals on the autism spectrum, and it has been an incredibly enlightening journey. Autism isn't a flaw to be fixed; it's a unique perspective to be understood and celebrated. Each individual brings a beautiful tapestry of strengths, talents, and passions that enrich our world in ways we couldn't imagine.

Through our sessions, we've witnessed firsthand the remarkable resilience and determination of those with autism. Every milestone, no matter how small, is a testament to their unwavering spirit and the incredible support system around them.

But our journey doesn't end with acceptance; it extends to advocacy and awareness. We must continue to educate ourselves and others, break down stereotypes, and create inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and understood.

Let's celebrate the diversity within the autism community and embrace the richness it brings to our lives. Together, let's spread love, compassion, and understanding, paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future. 🧩💙

Strabismus, also known as crossed eyes is an ocular condition where your eyes don’t properly align. It can cause various visual problems, including double vision, reduced depth perception, and vision loss. Our vision therapy programs can be a valuable treatment to help correct your strabismus.Strabismus is a problem of eye and brain coordination, not a muscle problem. While surgeries may attempt to align the eyes, vision therapy treatment for strabismus is the only way to naturally restore depth perception and retrain the brain while also gaining the alignment of the eyes.If your child is too young to verbalize their vision problems, you can observe certain behaviors to determine whether you need to seek treatment, such as:

■Misaligned eyes
■Recurrent squinting or blinking
■Tilting the head to look at objects
■Eyes that don’t move together

If your child is slightly older, they may recognize they have double vision or their depth perception is off.

At Navajyoti Vision Therapy and Eye Clinic we individualize our treatment plan for each patient to help improve visual skills with exercises and therapeutic tools, such as specialized lenses, filters, balance boards, and digital simulations.

Come visit us if your loved ones has crossed eyes. Contact us for further details.

Congratulations to our vision therapy graduate Kaelyn. Kaelyn belongs to Canada and she is temporarily here in Nepal with her parents. She was diagnosed with Amblyopia and esotropia( inward turning of eyes) because of severe astigmatism back in canada. They started with 2 times of in-office vision therapy and She attended a total of 28 sessions. We are so glad she has 20/20 in her both eyes and an excellent depth perception. So glad with what she has achieved from vision therapy.😊

Strabismus, also known as an “eye turn” or “cross-eye”, is a condition characterized by the improper alignment of the eyes. One of the eyes may look straight ahead, while the other eye turns inward, outward, upward, or downward. The eye turn may be permanent, or may only occur occasionally. At times, the straight and misaligned eye may even alternate positions.

Vision therapy is an advanced and effective treatment regimen for strabismus. The goal of vision therapy is to teach the brain and eyes to work together to correct the eye misalignment and thus achieve clear and comfortable vision. Vision therapy can also strengthen neuro-visual processing to further alleviate challenges caused by the eye turn. I

The reliance on devices, and the resulting screen time (ST), before and after the 2020 pandemic, is part of the ‘new normal'.Screen time equates to near work and most often requires reading. Continual close eye work and a lack of outdoor play contribute to digital eye strain, dry eye syndrome and the most remarkable problem is today’s myopia epidemic.

Children who spend more time on using handheld devices and computers or watching television are more likely to exhibit behavior problems such as aggression, difficulties with attention, anxiety and depression.(Source: JAMA Psychiatry). In the review of data from 87 studies with nearly 160,000 participants age 12 years and younger, more screen time during the day was associated with an up to 20% higher risk for behavior problems, the data showed.

While embracing the benefits of a highly digitalised world, we need to simultaneously mitigate the potential risks they pose to the health of growing children. This can start with straightforward, practical behavioural lifestyle modifications. Children should spend time outdoors and physical activities. If you’ve noticed a change in your child’s vision over the past few months, or they’ve reported some of the symptoms , it’s best to arrange an eye test. We recommend that children have their eyes tested every year to ensure their eyes remain healthy during this important developmental stage.
