A free health camp in Madhyanepal-8, Lamjung, serving the Gurung community, benefited 278 adults and 93 children, bridging health disparities. Offering essential services, the camp improved access to healthcare, addressing critical needs in the region. During Oral Health Week, we successfully conducted a series of activities to promote oral hygiene and raise awareness about dental health. Our initiatives included:
• General screenings and an awareness program focusing on dental hygiene and proper brushing techniques.
• Distribution of toothbrushes and toothpaste to school children, encouraging good oral care habits from a young age.
• Hosting a three-day free dental health camp, providing services such as check-ups and minor interventions like tooth extraction.
The theme for Oral Health Day was “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body,” highlighting the importance of oral health for overall well-being. Thank you to everyone who participated, contributing to healthier smiles and happier lives!
The health camp was conducted at Ichhakamana-2, Mayatar, a Chepang community residing in geographically challenging terrain, aimed to address the healthcare disparities faced by this indigenous population. The camp focused on providing basic healthcare services to community members who struggle with extreme poverty, a lack of basic healthcare facilities, and limited access to essential medical services. The health camp was organized in collaboration with the local Government, Narayangadh Church, and volunteers from CMCTH. The camp site was set up in Mayatar, strategically located within the community to ensure easy access for community members facing geographical challenges. The following services were provided during the camp: Basic vitals monitoring, GRBS monitoring, General Health screening, ENT and pediatric consultation, Gynaecologic consultation, Ultrasonography, Free medicine Distribution, and Counselling. The health camp successfully provided healthcare services to more than 320 community members who had limited or no access to basic medical facilities due to their remote location. the health camp conducted at Mayatar has aided in bridging the healthcare gap for the Chepang community living in a geographically challenging terrain and struggling with poverty. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude towards all the helping hands who diligently worked on the project and lent their time to make the project successful.
