On 14th November, the Chitwan Sakriya Women’s Foundation, in collaboration with ActionAid Nepal and with financial support from the Irish Government, organized a Policy Dialogue on Informal Workers under the Samriddhi Project at Chitwan Garden Resort, Chitwan.
Although the Labor Act 2074 outlines important provisions related to working hours and labor rights, the situation of informal women workers at the community level remains a major concern. To address these challenges, the dialogue brought together key stakeholders, including the Chief District Officer, Chief of Police, journalists, labor rights activists, and representatives of workers’ organizations.
During the event, participants shared their experiences and highlighted ongoing challenges within the informal labor sector. In response, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for workers’ rights, strengthening institutional coordination, and ensuring the effective implementation of labor-related policies.
The program was attended by 60 participants, including labor activists, journalists, representatives from workers’ organizations, and members of various institutions.
🤝 This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration among workers, the media, and policymakers to strengthen labor rights at the grassroots level.
