Khanal visited our clinic with mam, and sir Manish Shrestha. We had the honor of meeting Sir Dr. Rajendra Khanal, the senior chief consultant Radiologist Professor of Devdha Medical college and Nidan ultrasound , whose insights added immense value to our wisdom.

Colitis
Nepali Meaning बृहदांत्रशोथ
⇒ Colitis affects the colon
-Inflammation of the colon
-An inflammation of the large intestine, esp. of its mucous membrane.
-Inflammation of the lining of the colon.
Synonyms inflammatory bowel disease, inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome.
⇒ IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)does not lead to colon cancer or ulcerative colitis or any other serious diseases.

Ultrasound shows increased symmetrical wall thickening and submucosal echogenicity. On Color Doppler , there may be increased mural flow
Ct is usually the examination of choice .Typically colon wall thickening (Homogenous enhancement) with low attenuation areas within it representing edema may be detected.
What can I do to prevent ulcerative colitis?

:
A nabothian cyst is a mucus-filled cyst on the surface of the uterine cervix.
The cervical canal is lined by glandular cells that normally secretes mucus.
When the openings of cervical glands(nabothian glands)is blocked this will lead to accumulation of mucus in the glands,that causes formation of cyst/cysts.

☆-They are not a threat to health.

:
1-High level of estrogen.
2-Use of OCPs.

CLINICAL FINDINGS OF NABOTHIAN CYST:
1-Clinically nabothian cyst may be symptomless.
2-On Pelvic examination there will a small, smooth, rounded lump(or collection of lumps)on the surface of the cervix.

:
1-A colposcopic examination is necessary to distinguish nabothian cysts from other types of cervical lesions.
2- Another diagnostic finding is sustained endocervical bleeding easily induced by passage of a cotton swab through the cervical os.

:
1-No treatment is necessary,however nabothian cysts do not clear spontaneously.
So they can be easily cured through electrocautery or cryotherapy.
Both procedures can be done in the doctor's office.

PLACENTA GRADING

GRADE-O
(14-32weeks) The placenta lies in Grade O from 14 up to 32 of pregnancy. In this Grade placenta will homogenous from one end to the other end. The outer surface which is chorionic plate appears echogenic.in this stage the attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall is very strong because the fetus at this stage needs maximum blood supply.

GRADE-1
(32-34weeks) The placenta lies in Grade-I, from 32 to 34 weeks of pregnancy this is characterized by indentation/hollows of the chorionic plate and small intervals.

GRADE-II
( 34-36weeks) The placenta lies in this grade from 34 to 36 weeks, and it is characterized by holes formation and placenta divided in to 4-8 segments/parts. Now the placental attachment to the uterine wall becomes weak.

GRADE-III
After 36 weeks many changes takes place in the placenta. At this stage the placenta will seen in 4-8 separate segments. The attachment of the placenta to the uterine wall becomes weaker and the blood supply to the fetus also decreases. And this is known as Grade-III maturation of placenta.
